Getting there:From Zwolle - Follow the A28 in the direction of Groningen - Just before Groningen take exit 39 (exit Groningen Zuid) - At the end of the exit ramp turn left, passing underneath the main road - Cross the bridge and turn left after 10 metres - Go into the entrance and in front of you is Meerwold From Heerenveen - Follow the A7 in the direction of Groningen - At the end of the A7 at the traffic lights (Julianaplein) turn right in the direction of Assen - Keep right and take the first exit Groningen Zuid - At the end of the exit ramp turn right and then the first left - Go into the entrance and in front of you is Meerwold Public Transport You can reach Meerwold from NS Central Station Groningen by by city bus 6 (in the direction of Martini Hospital / Hoornse Meer). You need to get off at the stop which is at the corner of J. den Uylstraat / D.D. Eisenhouwerstraat. From there it is approximately a 4 minute walk.

The staff are very friendly and helpful, and swimming pool is very nice, and most importantly, EMPTY!!! The rooms are quite compact without bathtub, but all of all is comfortable with fast internet connection. Hotel restaurant has fair food, although the waiter is not so professional. Recommend!!
Hampshire Hotel Plaza Groningen. Very clean and well run hotel. Staff very friendly and efficient. Rooms were on the small side but modern and clean. Overall a very good hotel.
The Hampshire Hotel is impressive from the outside, but it's only skin deep. The rooms are cramped with little spaceto relax. The reception atrium is nicely done, but it channels all of the noise to the upper floors and the rooms. Since this is a convention hotel. the socializing in the evening is a real problem. Finally, the hotel is located far from and services. One needs a car to go shopping or eating at a restaurant other than the one at the hotel.
Used bus service to get to center - not too much trouble.
I spent two nights there, room was nice, bar and food service was good, A little remote if you are not driving.
