Absolutely perfect for the money. Room is small but adequate. Bathroom is tiny but ample. It's all very clean. Breakfast was also perfectly fine. Those people complaining about the place are obviously expecting a lot more for their money. This is a budget hotel a short walk away from Victoria station. You should expect nothing more than a clean bed and clean bathroom - and this is exactly what you get. Staff are also friendly and helpful.
Trip adviser does an injustice to this historic hotel. It's clean, functional, perfectly located and the staff were both helpful and friendly. We were under the office which was noisy. A carpet and elimination of the rolling chairs would quite the place down considerably. A perfectly good place for the price minded traveler.
The room size is like a jail cell. Ridiculously small and hardly any room to even place your luggage. Worse of all, it is located on the 4th floor through a very narrow and rickety staircase (no lift). Talking about profiteering, I suppose they converted the staircase landing into a single room. The breakfast is mediocre. The only commendable thing is its cleanliness. Good for bunking in a night stay.
If you are looking for a bed for the night within walking distance to Victoria Station that is clean, this is a suitable place. No frills, basic but most importantly clean. Not suitable if unable to manage stairs as no lift that we could see. Quiet location.
Very old hotel, wouldn't stay in it again
The location of this hotel is excellent. London Victoria Station is within walking distance making it very convenient to travel both in central london and outside. I recommend this hotel for budget travellers. The only disappointment was that we were allocated a room on the 4th floor and it was quite a mission to get the luggage up and down the narrow stairs since the hotel doesn't have a lift. However, staff were helpful.
Very small rooms, no room to move, smelt like the bathroom and toilet all the time, very narrow stairs and no lifts so had to climb 10 fkights of stairs with luggage. Lot of pervading noise from operating families coming to guest rooms at ground floor level
Hotel being renvated during our stay. Did not interfere with us
The room was small but clean. Breakfast ok. Our bathroom doorknob was broken and most fittings a bit rickety but for the economy price hotel was good
Breakfast was terrible. Kitchen was unclean.
I would never again stay in this hotel. One has to lug all of one's luggage up two flights (there is no elevator). The room had not properly been cleaned and remnants of an earlier occupation were evident. The clerk was rather unfriendly. But the price was right! The bathroom had plenty of hot water. The room was small and barren. We left before breakfast and cannot comment on that. Surely one can do better than this place.
Very good location near Victoria station but the cleaning could be better and some of the rooms should probably not be used for renting (Had to cross the bed to get to the bathroom)!
this hotel is a bit run-down. toilet overflowed at first, but was repaired after about 36 hours. insufficient warm water for shower one morning. otherwise, basically functional.
The room i was in was very small, so much so that there wasn't enough room to have a door on the toilet. The sink wan't big enough to have a proper wash in. The bed didn't fit in the room properly and was diagonally across the room. The tv was of a good quality but the picture quality was very poor. The tea served with breakfast was horrible and there was only whitener in the room for tea and coffee.
Very friendly welcome and waitress at breakfast was stupendous. Excellent location for Victoria rail and coach stations. The room was definitely scruffy but beds were comfortable and overall it was very good value for money.
I read some feedback from other people who had stayed at this hotel and was quite worried about staying here but my friend and I were very pleasantly surprised! The staff were really helpful, the room and bathroom were of a good size and of a good standard of cleanliness. The hotel was in an excellent location (close to Victoria tube station) and we even had a view of Big Ben and the Houses of Parliment from our room window!!
no hot water to sink or shower.
The location of the hotel was perfect for me, being so close to the bus station. However, the room didn't offer the standard that was presented on their website. The biggest problem was the closet-sized bathroom, literally, which flooded badly every time you had a shower, as it did not drain at all. Also, the regular checks of the room had been insufficient as the tv did not work, however, that was luckily not too big a problem for me as I hardly spent no time in the hotel. I would not pay the regular prices to stay in this hotel, and would not recommend it to others, either. The service was friendly and professional, especially at the reception.
For London a good Hotel, if you don't have to stay in downtown
Very noisy during the night, beds not that comfortable. A major renovation required.
