Hengshan Picardie Hotel Shanghai

Great hotel and I was lucky to be in a recently refurbished room. However, my stay was let down by the awful room service. I ordered a burger, which in itself was pretty awful, but it was the lack of attention to detail that really let the place down. The meal arrived without a cover, (to keep it hygienic as well as warm, there was no Knife, fork or napkin, neither were there any condiments. All pretty basic stuff. When I asked for the required items the member of staff, who was clearly keen, but badly trained came back carrying a fork! On checkout I did inform he hotel, but the seemed to take no action and I have not heard from them even to offer a simple apology. This one is now firmly off my list of Shanghai hotels.

The reason for staying here is obviously the location - although the facilities are perfectly adequate. Lot's of bars and restaurants just outside. 5 min walk to the subway line.

Yes, I've stayed here once again! Always enjoy it, love the location and the staff are helpful, the carpet in my room this time was stained. Friends have recommended other hotels of similar quality which are cheaper. The Hengshan does seem to be getting a bit pricey.

I now always stay at this hotel in Shanghai, after staying in other locations over the years. The location is great for me, both for business and leisure, the hotel is kept well and the staff are friendly

I enjoyed my stay so much, Very reasonable price and good service. The rooms are clean and tidy. Will stay there again in my next visit.

An exception hotel - We thoroughly enjoyed our stay the staff were most obliging and we would have to admit being rapt with the style and design of the hotel interior which certainly creates a very good feeling of understated elegance. The rooms were very comfortable and well furnished - bathroom a tadd on the small size but nonetheless totally functional. Only one disappointment relating to the inclusive breakfast only applying to one guest not two as you would expect for a double room booking. Would certainly return when next in Shanghai.

I have stayed at this hotel 5 times because I likd the location. The recent renovations are a big improvement. The breakfasts are good!

I was very pleased with the excellent all round service. Perhaps, the charges for using the internet in the Business Centre could be lower.

The hotel just finished the repair. Every thing is good. And the staff povided very good service.

A lovely hotel in a super area - the French Concession. Not all staff speak English - hard when trying to explain minor room problems (I couldn't turn one of the lights off). but very willing.

A very good hotel.

Very pleasant hotel to stay in. Location in the French Quater much better than city central - quiet, leafy streets and nearby gardens , close to restaurants and clubs and not too far from both the main shopping areas. Service could only be improved by more English speaking reception staff.
