Getting there:From the airport the distance to central Athens is 30 km. Starting on the 14th of February 2009, the Metro of Athens will be partly closed , due to the works underway for its further extension. During this period the transportation from the airport to our hotel will be available by: By Metro: You could take the train named Proastiakos, until the station Neratziotissa, then change to line 1 until Monastiraki Square. The train runs every 15 min.The journey is about 45 minutes. It operates from 05:50 - 24:00. A single fare costs 6 euro(2009). From Monastiraki square you have to walk up Mitropoleos Street. After 4 blocks you should turn right on Patroou street. You will see the hotel just in front of you, at the end of this small street. By Bus: There is a direct route to Syntagma Square on the E95. A single fare costs 3 euro(2009). The journey is about 45 minutes. By Taxi: The journey to central Athens is approx.30-45 min. The cost is about 30 to 35 euro.

Stayed there for two nights. Great location, nice and polite staff, clean rooms, reasonable price
Location was excellent. Roooms were a little small but there were well thought out storage facilities and a very good sitting area adjacent the ground floor. Breakfeast was included in the rate and was very good. Wireless internet incurred and additional charge 15 Eoros for 5 hours but had good access speed.

A 4 euro fee to use the Internet and it took 20 minutes to connect. Better to make it free for guest to use for upto 30 minutes.

We arrived at the hotel at 0600hrs, after getting off an overnight ferry from Crete. Expected to just drop off our luggage, as check in is usually not until 1400hrs, but after checking that our room was free, the man at reception let us check in straight away. Much appreciated!! He then gave us lots of information on sightseeing, and a map, with directions. Great location, in the old city and walking distance to the Acropolis, Parliament, shops and restaurants. Good buffet breakfast with the best greek yoghurt. Would definitely stay here again.

Convenient location in Plaka/Monastiraki, well suited for exploring all of the major attractions in the city. Hotel does not have a restaurant but there are many of them nearby so it is not a problem at all. Breakfast was provided and was quite good. Would stay there again.

Very friendly staff and helpful with all requests. Breakfast was average. The rooms were ok in size considering you are in Europe. The location of the hotel is excellent. It's in the heart of the city, close to all main attractions. I would stay here again.

Very nice with good sized rooms. The Breakfast buffet was excellent with lots of choice. Location was good and within walking or short metro ride to the major sights. Easy access to and from the airport, although this trip is very long. The 24 hour reception was very helpful and accommodating. An excellent choice for any length of stay in Athens.
THe Hermes Hotel was one of the nicest hotels we stayed in during our two week trip in Greece. The rooms were spacious enough and had excellent facilities. The staff were also very helpful and friendly. We went back twice at the end of our trip after our initial reservation. I would absolutely go back again, and highly recommend this hotel.

Hermes Hotel is very conveniently located, close to the Plaka, Syntagma Square and some museums. The posh shopping area in Hermes Street is 5 minutes away. Breakfast was good but there was no restaurant for evening meals. There were enough cafes and restaurants in the area to choose from at night.
