Hesperia Metropol Hotel Barcelona Guest Reviews

I have mixed opinions about this hotel - great price, FABULOUS location, but bed bugs and insolent staff made for an iffy stay. The gentleman who checked us in was downright rude. No polite smile, no welcome, simply a request to see our paperwork and passports. Our room was on the front of the hotel, with a small balcony overlooking the quaint street running in front. We were pleased with the look of the room - it appeared clean, but we were in for a big surprise. Coming off of a 24 hr. flight the first thing we did was hit the sack. Too bad the bars right outside were about to open their doors and remain open until 5am! Because the streets are so narrow and the buildings so tall, anything taking place in the street below echoes loudly. We got absolutely no sleep that first night and were not only exhausted in the morning, but covered with BED BUG BITES! We promptly asked the front desk to move us. We were switched to a much quieter room but the bed bug issue had us somewhat concerned. However we were not bit the rest of the week and so it must've just been that room. Next time I'll be sure to pull back the bedspread/sheets and examine things before climbing in. This hotel couldn't be better for location though. It's a 5 minute walk to La Rambla, there are great little restaurants right on the street, a small store with necessities, an ATM, etc. Tour buses can be found at the end of the street and amazing restaurants await in the winding alleyways behind the hotel. For the price and location I would pick this hotel again. The staff left something to be desired, but in the big scheme of things we weren't in the hotel long enough or often enough for it to matter.

We stayed overnight here prior to taking a Mediterranean cruise. The hotel is simple, clean best attribute is the location near La Rambla and the water. If you don't mind evening noise from the bar across the street, then a room with a juliet balcony overlooking the little narrow street is what you want. Otherwise, get a room inside overlooking a courtyard, much quieter. Decent value.

Our double room was so small there was no room for our luggage. Bath was half size and the bathroom needed retiling. Roof above the bath was poor presumably due to leakage from the bathroom above - poor tiling again perhaps. We would not have booked this room if we had known how small it was. We were told a bigger room only had twin beds. Anyhow, we got used to it and enjoyed Barcelona regardless. A lot of money for a broom cupboard !!

Beautiful hotel, clean and while a few blocks from the bottom of Las Ramblas, it was a good location and had nice bars and restaurants across the street. I enjoyed my stay here very much.

The exelent location to everything - main street, beach etc. Close to metro, post office. Nice place to rest-quite and good service for reasonable price. Would deffinitely choose it again. B.R. Birute

The room was way too small for the price paid, but the location was good and the rooms were clean. Breakfast cost extra.

The walls were a bit thin, and we were right next to the lift, so it was a bit noisy. There was no natural light in the room, which was a shame (we had a window but it looked into a shaft). However, the staff were friendly, and the room was cleaned every day. Not the best of decoration, but I'm told we got a decent deal for the money. I would stay there again.

Hesperia was fine. It was decorated in bright primary colours and was spotlessly clean. Staff were very helpful and often drop-dead-gorgeous. My room was well equipped and for the rate I got it was fine. The bathroom was very good, toiletries were replaced daily and it even had a bath.

Hotel situated near the Marina and near most of the major city highlights. and the two nightclubs visited. Highlights further away - Sagrada Familia, Parc Guell - are easily accessable by bus. Breakfast was excellent.

My room was extremely noisy - noise from the street and a live band from a bar nearby made it difficult to sleep. Overall, I thought the room was overpriced given the average quality of the accomodations.

The front desk personnel spoke English, which is extremely helpful in Barcelona, considering that most do not speak any English. The location itself is ideally suited to the Gothic quarter for a real taste of Barcelona and also within a five-minute walk to the Picasso museum, and a ten-minute walk in the opposite direction to Las Ramblas. I would definitely return to the Hesperia Metropol if I come back to Barcelona.

This hotel has a great location and represents very good value for money. The staff are friendly, speak good English and the breakfast offers great variety. If however you are booking ask for a room at the back of the hotel as the front can be extremely noisy at night!!

An excellent hotel in an ideal location, in the old gothic quarter of town yet 5mins walk from the Ramblas and also the harbour and its large shopping complex. We greatly enjoyed our stay in Barcelona and found the Hesperia to be an excellent base to explore from.

This Hotel is conveniently situated close to harbour and Rambles. Very nice decor throughout. Buffet style breakfast very good with a selection of hot and cold food and various hot and cold drinks.Locks on rooms were very not very secure.CCTV system was installed in the hotel and a Safety deposit box was available.Had a lovely weekend break at this hotel and would recommend it.
