Hides Hotel Cairns

Hides Hotel is an older hotel, very centrally located in Cairns C.B.D. my room with toilet and shower was average with the option of A.Con. or open windows but no view. The inclusive continental breakfast on the upstairs veranda was adequate in a pleasant setting. the price offered value for money.

i thoroughly enjoyed my stay. the breakfast had a good selection, raisin toast a big plus! Sitting on the verandah - very pleasant. the view from my window was a brick wall of the building next door, but the location was excellent, right in the cbd heart. only con was that there was no luggage storage unless you wanted to pay $6 for a locker, i thought they could just look after my bag for a couple hrs before my flight.

Rooms clean and comfortable,if basic.corridors need refurbishment & cleaning

Hotel staff were extremely pleasant and helpful (especially the young ladies at reception). Hotel rooms were basic and spartan but clean. Stay at the hotel was ruined however by drunken rugby yobs who were noisey, constantly drunk and generally disturbed everyones holiday. Location is not the best as there was a lot of noise at night from streets below. Lobby of hotel is not very welcoming and could do with a new coat of paint. Loved the breakfast on the verandah!!! Overall, not too bad, but would have been better if swimming pool had been functioning.

The hotel is a very good value for the price and the location is convenient but do not recommend it for anyone over 30. Cairns is a young person's town. We could hear crowds of people until all hours of the morning singing drinking songs in the bars (2-3 on each block) or walking down the streets yelling and partying. We were there on a Monday and Tuesday night. The weekend is probably worse!

We had an enjoyable time in Cairns and our hotel made it very easy. It is fairly basic and lacks decorating style but the breakfast on the verandah is very pleasant and convenient.

A nice location in the heart of Cairns but quite simple. The best is the place to enjoy breakfast outside on the porch. Pool is not recommendable - badly situated next to car garage - no flair at all.

Good value for money in the heart of town

I enjoyed my stay at The Hides Hotel In Cairns very central to everywhere.Very clean and the staff were very pleasant.Will stay there on my trip next year. lenore Evans

Centrally located. Room was comfortable, perfectly clean except for a dirty cup & spoon and balcony was littered with cigarette butts!

Staff are friendly but not very attentive. Took 2 days to deliver a box left for me at front desk. When a computer caught fire (flames, smoke) and I told them to call the fire department, the desk attendant said "the computers are not my problem". Good location.

We chose it because of its 'old Australia' style and position and were glad that we did. One doesn't often get more from a hotel than one expects but here we were given a 'light evening meal' voucher and met some interesting people as a result.
