Highway House is a characterful English-style "Arts and Crafts" residence which incorporates three bedrooms only for guests. Whilst the house dates from 1935, the interior is refurbished to the standard of the 21st century. The house is set in pleasant gardens and is only 1.3 kilometres from the centre of town. There is ample private parking. Hosts are travellers themselves and will concern themselves with your plans and your comfort. A full cooked breakfast is provided.

Getting there:On state Highway 1 from south or north, the house is located on the corner of Thames Highway (as it is known) and Lynn St, approximately 1 kilometre north of the town centre. It is located on the east side of state highway 1. Our
Check-in Procedure:1 PM is normally the earliest time of arrival although it could be earlier on request. On arrival the guest will be greeted (warmly) and details such as name and breakfast wishes will be established. Keys and maps of town will be provided along with suggestions for local tourism.
Car parking:Vehicles often park directly outside the residence on this quiet street. Alternatively, they may park in our private driveway. If security is vital, there is also an enclosed off-street parking area with a high fence and gate.
Child Policy:Children can be accommodated upon request. A cot and high chair are available Free of charge. Children age 0-8, sharing the parents room are accommodated at no cost. Children from 9-12 years old, are accommodated at HALF the Adult Rate.
Very nice B&B. The hosts were so informative of the area and served us a wonderful breakfast. Not a problem to have children along - tree house, fenced yard to play in and penguin books to read.

This is a smaller room with two very comfortable king single beds, complete with electric blankets and fine bedding. It is a second-floor room with an interesting outlook to the north. Chocolates, flowers and handcream complement the service.
The Gold Room is a beautifully refurbished second-floor room with an outlook over Oamaru to the west. It contains a king-size bed complete with electric blanket and fine bedding. There is a television set in the room. Chocolates, flowers and handcream complement the service.
The Mahogany Room is a beautifully refurbished second-floor bedroom. It contains a king-size bed with electric blankets and fine bedding. There is a television set in the room and a moveable heater. Chocolates, flowers and handcream complement the service.
Upstairs "sunroom" small. Shared bathroom, poor view, no radio or TV. Excellent beds, superb breakfast, very kindly and interesting hosts. Parking on side road caused no problems. We enjoyed our stay.

A very-well run B & B. Norman and Steph were extremely welcoming, informative and helpful. It was a pleasure to stay in their beautiful home and great to have a guest-lounge available.
