A challenging golf course is nearby. The Whanganui River, a world class fly fishing river is a ten minute walk from Hilltop. Mt Ruapehu ski area is a 40 minute drive. Tongariro National Park is 25 minutes drive. The Whanganui National Park - Te Maire walk is ten minutes drive. Locally there are jet boat tours, quad tours, kayaking, walking and cycle tracks. Hilltop is ideal for visiting the Tongariro & Whanganui National Parks, Lake Taupo, the Tongariro Crossing, the Forgotten World Highway and the King Country.
Hilltop Ruapehu is non smoking - ashtrays are provided on the terraces. There are walking tracks and picnic areas on the estate. Hilltop Ruapehu is not suitable for children 12 years and under.

Getting there:
From SH 4 Taumarunui follow Highway 43 " The Forgotten World Highway", past the hospital. Bullians Avenue is first right at the bottom of hospital hill. The entrance to Hilltop Ruapehu is at the end of the Avenue.
