First of all, the staff. Very polite and very helpful. They deserve an extra star considering the hours people in Turkey work, for such small wages... The location was within 5 minutes walk from the top sightseeing spots of Istanbul. It was of average value at this time of year, considering beginning of December is off season and the room was too small, so much so that the closet was located where a window used to be :). It had a double bed and it was (as the receptionist claimed) a room for two people, so it's a good thing that I was traveling alone because otherwise one of us should have left the luggage at the balcony! But since I was out all day it didn't really matter. Also the building is very old, as most buildings in this area.
The hotel is in an excellent location...could see both the sea and Sultanahmat mosque from my room. Very clean room with all what is needed such as fridge, hairdryer, slippers and all bathroom amenities. The room is just right for one person cant accommodate two except when sleeping...breakfast is good but no food offered at all in the hotel after that not even room service ...restaurants, small supermarkets, bazar and all touristic location is very close....staff are friendly, helpful and speaks English....
Alittle cramped, but the room did the job, AC good as was the view, until you looked down, a bit jaded, it WAS the old part of the city though. Central for all the usual touristy stuff and staff were very good I must say. Someone forgot to tell us that there is a railway line 30 yards from the bedroom window, NOT an issue really as windows were new and double glazed, and we were so knackered at the end of the day, reccomended.
The room and bedding smelled strongly of stale tobacco, the paint was peeling from the woodwork, the carpet was grimy and there was not enough room to swing a dead rat on a short string. This hotel is very close to the Istanbul train line, so is also noisy. The view of the Bosphorus was great, the staff pleasant enough and the breakfast was ace - lashings of fresh fruit. I would not book there again.
Spacious rooms. Helpful staff.
The breakfast was a little bit poor.
