Hotel 81 Orchid Singapore

needed a place to sleep while waiting for my connecting flight. Hotel is located in the RLD area (didn't know that)... it can be a cultural experience to see the other side of Singapore. Nearby you can find lots of food stands with cheap and delicious Chinese menu...

Earlier as when we checked into the room, we were not happy as the room smell and as well as the pillow. We asked for a change, and after viewing the third room, we were pleased. Room attender were friendly Overall, i have no complaints except it was noisy during early morning when the room attender were doing the room cleaning,air con was running noisy too and a bit too cold even it was at low. Public Transport is quite good at this area. I would recommend for those who are looking for a budget hotel. JC Malaysia

We have stayed at this hotel 5 times already and will continue to come back. Hotel is well located in downtown Geylang, is within easy walking distance to MRT, local buses and there are plenty of taxis close by. The choice of food is just fantastic - some of the best in all of Singapore. We alos like it here as is within close proximity to mainstream Singapore shops yet quiet enough to enjoy the street life. Rooms are smaller than the 5 star stuff but hey we only require a bed to sleep on. We will be back again.

Our stay at Hotel 81 Orchid Singapore was ok. The hotel was near so many restaurants,the area is very alive at night. It was safe to walk around the area,though it was known to be a red light district in singapore. many tourists stay at the hotel,even family with children. the room was small but ok if you'll just sleep at night and be out all day. the staff were ok,can speak engish. overall, we had a great time in singapore.

For the cost of room per night, this hotel is OK. But I don't think its suitable for families with children, with all the other activities around the hotel. Maybe u should clean up your new image.

I would say i enjoyed staying at hotel 81 orchid, the personnel were friendly and really a big helped, the facilities were clean, the price range is good, the room was ok kindda small well what do you expect but its great staying there,the bus stop is 4 mins walk. over all i recommend to stay there, if im going to back in singapore soon i am sure ill definitely stay there again.

Small basic room = good for one night as its fairly handy to airport/ only a 12 dollar taxi fare. not very noise proof/ no carpets in corridors so noisy when walked on. some traffic noise . use earplugs.

It is a budget hotel and you get what you pay for

For the price, it's okay. Everything's pretty basic, which you'd expect. No complaints. The bus stop is very close, just at the top of the road, though for me, the MRT is just a bit too far to walk, especially if you've got luggage. Quiet at night, comfortable bed. Air con works, though not really needed as the whole hotel seemed very airconditioned.

we ended up upgrading our room to the more expensive one to have a fridge, tea/coffee. the rooms were quite small, st least for me, but clean. minimal (2)power points (fridge and TV) and no shower curtain. there was also an unusual smell in the hallways. prices seemed higher than hotels in the area but we didn't compare facilities. the staff were good and helpful.

The hotel can satisfy your most basic accomodation, nothing more. I would recommend this hotel if you are on a tight budget or you plan to spend the whole day sightseeing.

overall worth the price paid

Very clean and basic facilities but price was very good.

Very small room. No window. Air-conditioner was really good. Pretty much what I expected, having read the reviews here. Reasonable for the price.

Good cheap hotel for a short stay. Location is good with lots of food shops and night life. Staff at reception were ok, but it is what you would expect for a cheap hotel.

I have stayed several times at this hotel. Overall, it's quite good value if you don't mind staying in the Geyland area. Rooms are large enough and clean. On the negative side, there is no proper cabinet to hang your clothes and no hair dryer. The MRT is about 8-10 min walks but there is a bus stop very near.

the smell of smoke is very bad though I have reserved "non smoking area", The location is near to Bus stop but quite far from MRT station, we had to take a bus first to Kallang or Aljunned MT Station. Some of the staff is nice and helpful.

Good Value for your Money

bustling, vibrant area, don't expect much as you get what you pay for. plenty of nice food around. only good place for a stop-over and night to crash.

This is one of the better hotels in the area and one of the cheapest in Singapore. Like the other hotels, you get a tiny room, with no amenities (pools, restaurants, breakfast, etc.). But at least this room is relatively clean and quiet, and if you're on the upper floors you'll get free internet via cable. It's a good choice for a one-night stopover in Singapore
