Hotel 81 Star Singapore

The staff was good for they give us specific directions WITH MAP to the places we have gone. Good Job!

Location quick nice, is nice budget hotel.

This is a good budget hotel with good accessibility by bus and MRT. Rooms and sheets are clean and changed daily.Located right in middle of RLA but no body bothers or disturbs.Broadband is complimentary and working.ok for a short stay.

A pleasant stay, albeit in one of Singapore's Red Light Districts. Close proximity to public transportation and a wide assortment of eating places were a plus. Much more of the "Old" Singapore than the high rise glitzy office and apartment blocks.

Another very nice overnight stay at this hotel. Good for transit. Small, clean room - nice and quiet!

This hotel room is decent for the area, but no frills. I like the free internet. On the other hand, I found several hairs in the middle of the bedspread, suggesting that it had not been changed since the last guest. Ick.

Geylang remains, IMHO, the only reasonably priced accomodation in Singapore, and Hotel 81 Star is a great example of a simple, comfortable place to stay. Locations is good, within easy walking distance of Aljuned MRT station and there are plenty of shops and food stalls to keep you supplied. The staff were friendly and helpful. My room was very clean and overall the standard of cleanliness in the hotel was excellent. I still cannot understand how they provide a hotel room without a fridge though... (This is really the only negative I have about the hotel). The hotel is very well priced, but expect to get what you pay for - the room is quite small. A great hotel for a stopover or short stay. Highly recommended!

Good location, clean rooms and efficient staff.

Price is good for a decent hotel stay. The only problem is the location where there are many people outside the hotel. If you can accept that, overall is good.

No internet access to all room, you need to inform the hotel for room with internet access.

if you are on a budget in Singapore and dont actually mind the location(right in the middle of the red light district) Geylang then any hotel 81 is what you want, always clean, surprisingly quiet! and worth the money,take the MRT from Aljunied about 10 mins from the hotel.

Great Location for food, drinks and night life. Excellent valua for money

I got what I expected of the price, in fact, even more as to the customer service. Plus factor for me wass the free flat iron and ironing board and the internet (in my room as requested). What I really didnt like in particular wass the underbed, it was really very dirty, unswept and soooooo dusty. I sneeze a lot. Had it not of the cleanliness, I would give a great rating.

good value for money in an area of singapore that has real dirt and litter on the streets like they have in the rest of the real world where real people live rather than singapore clones

We use to stay around orchard road area, but found it so clinical, antiseptic, phoney and overpriced..... last few times we have stayed in Geylang area and hotel 81 star is by far the best on offer. ask for the mirror rooms on the lower floors naking for an interesting and funny stay. The rooms are small but for the price excellent value

The room is clean, with standard facilities. Receptionists are kind and very helpful. Although located at night district area, it's safe and just 10 mins away walking to Aljunied station. Many food stalls are around.

I stayed for one night. The hotel is just five to eight minutes by walk to the Ajunied MRT station. It's very clean although the room is small. It's worth for its price and I would recommend this hotel to others for a short stay.

Good clean hotel with friendly staff but not much entertainment in the district. Not far to Aljunied MRT so one can go elsewhere for the evening. No internet cafes in the area. For a good meal turn right out of the hotel, walk up to Geylang Rd, turn right towards Lorong 20. The eating house across Lorong 20 with a Carlsberg sign and a name shown only in Chinese characters serves great food!

Friendly staff and a location away from the tourist areas made it an enjoyable stay.

This hotel is pretty much standard Hotel81, which means air-conditioned, clean rooms at a good price (think Etap in Europe), mainly in the interesting area of Geylang. The hotel is well located, fairly close to the Aljuneid MRT station. I have stayed there on several occasions and have also tried other "budget" hotels in the area. but keep going back to the Star when the price is right.
