Probably what you would expect, although I don't think it quite rates 4 stars., Perhaps a top 3 star. Thats comparing it to UK hotels of similar gradings. Staff very helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. Room cleanliness excellent, but fairly standard furnishing wise. In fairness to the hotel they are carrying out rennovations to rooms so this might change.
Hotel location is central for getting around. Generally warm and clean room with a great bathroom. Down side is the 'hotel rules', we were told off when we walked into the hotel eating an ice cream! The male receptionist was quite brusk.
The De Roode Leeuw was a good hotel for a first time visit to Amsterdam. The hotel is near Dam Square, centrally located, walking distance to all including the Central Station, and easy find at the end of the day. The staff could not be nicer, were well informed and all spoke English. Drawbacks - This is the main tourist area and was very noisy until 11:00 PM due to a festival. Lighting in the room was very poor. For a romantic vacation, stick to the canals.
Great Location, very friendly and helpful staff. Good price
Great hotel and in a fantastic location near Dam Square - walking distance from Centraal Station and close to the main areas of central Amsterdam. Very highly recommended - this was my second stay at this hotel.
Good location to see Amsterdam
Excellent resturant for evening meal, good selection, but breakfast poor value at 15 euros. Although our room, which was spacious and clean, was on the main road there was no noise. Excellent location for centre attractions and rail station
great location about 2 blocks from central station, Room we got was unacceptable, couldn'y open bathroom door because room was so small door would hit the bed. Smelled of smoke. We upgraded to a jr. suite for about $25 a night more and it was fine. Hotel is just a little tired.
A silent and renewed hotel in the heart of Amsterdam. Rooms are small but cozy. Personnel is extremely friendly. Restaurant is spacious and service is perfect. Breakfast is supposed to be included to room price at booking but recharged at the hotel. I recommend this hotel to all lonely hearts.
A basic hotel in the heart of the city. The cafe in the hotel is worth to see and spend sometime. Highly recommended.
Staff are very friendly and helpful. Great location. Will be back to stay here.
Hotel Amsterdam De Roode Leeuw, is wonderfully situated. It is so central for sightseeing. When we arrived we were greeted by a lovely young Receptionist. We had arrived to early to take over the room, but, hotel staff, stored our luggage safely while we took our first visit round Amsterdam. All hotel staff we came into contact with, were very helpful, and very cheerful. Nothing seemed to be to much trouble. Our room was big and airy, and very clean. I would love to visit Amsterdam again and would not hesitate in choosing this hotel.
Very well located. Very nice people. What seemed strange to us was that we were asked to pay an one night stay deposit as an advance payment for probable use of the hotel services. Overall a pleasant stay.
Ecxellent location. Very good service. Very clean. Only thing we didn't expect is that we were asked to give 100 Euro advance payment for any hotel services we might use. Anyway this hotel was great value for money.
The rooms are small and heard lots of noise from adjoining rooms. Great location though in the main centre of town. Staff spoke good English and some were were helpful but not generally so. No breakfast. Ok but not great value for the price.
Unlike most hotels in Amsterdam, I found this hotel to be very clean, comfortable and offering modern facilities including flat screen TV, Internet connections, mini-bar etc. The single room may be a little small, but for one person it does the job. Great location and very convenient to all city areas. Definitely recommend this hotel to anyone.
Rooms are too small and densed I asked for no smoking room-but there was heavy smell of smoking in the room The acoustics seperation between the rooms is not good 4 stars and that level of price are not going together
The location of this hotel is its big selling point and the room we had was large and clean but they let themselves down in two areas. There were no non-smoking rooms contrary to the information on-line. This meant the bedding etc smelt of smoke which wasn't particularly pleasant. Also the bathrooms could do with updating - old fittings that had gone a bit yellow and quite hard toilet paper! Not a bad hotel but not a great one either
Great hotel and we got it at a great rate - would not pay the rack rate
Room and food very good but found the glass door to the WC/shower very off-putting. Not exactly see-through but more see-through than I like whilst carrying out my ablutions!
