"The Arena is located only four metro stops from central station (therefore within easy reach) and close to the centre, but not so close as to have crowds walking around it. We were so lucky as to occupy one of the newly refurbished rooms and I must say that I was pleasantly impressed.
Our room had very high ceiling; a very comfortable, clean, soft bed; very nice bathroom with toilet and shower and an upstairs sitting area, furbished with white, low chairs and a desk with tv. There was also a closet, a safe and an ironing board. Everything is brand new and looks very clean.
The bathroom has indeed glass walls, but it is very dark glass and the middle part is not transparent. The airco works fine.
We had no problem with the check-in and in the afternoon we went to the bar. They serve good food and prices are reasonable. I was very much impressed and would definitely recommend it, as I never found in major European cities, such a nice hotel at such a relatively low price. " - Hendrik Deneyer

"The Hotel Reception Desk was rude and terrible. There was construction going on at the hotel during our stay that was not advertized, and they were not very accomodating.
On the flip side, the restaurant is excellent. The service and food there are both great.

The Hotel Arena is a first class hotel, a city monument, in the city centre of Amsterdam. The 127 stylish and comfortable rooms are all with private bathroom, television and telephone. The rooms at Hotel Arena vary in size and shape and are all decorated in light tones and minimalist chic furniture’s. Authentic elements have been combined with warm colours, wooden floors and designer furniture to create a unique atmosphere.
Hotel Arena is centre of both international and local culture and activity. The accent is upon hosting cultural events, and the facilities consist of a hotel, bar, restaurant, club, and conference rooms. These are called respectively TOSTAY, TODRINK, TODINE, TONIGHT and TOMEET. The Hotel is easily reachable both by car and by public transport. There is a parking area on the grounds.
It was built in 1890 and first used as Roman-Catholic orphanage. Later it became an old age home, and in the 1980's a youth hostel. A number of noted designers participated in the renovation, and the result is a modern but character-full building.
