"We had booked late and where worried about the hotel quality since we decided to pay for location over quality. What a GREAT Hotel!!! The experience is something that the kids (age 12 & 9) are still talking about and telling friends. The hotel is part of an old palace. This is exactly the feeling that we got. The breakfast room was set in a large beautiful room that overlooked the ballroom. Fresh Hot Crossaints straight from the oven was a hit and our favorite. They are remodeling the hotel and the staff upgraded us (no charge)to a huge new room that had the most amazing view including a huge shower and whirl pool tub. This turned out to be our favorite hotel of the entire europe trip. The one we look back on and have wonderful memories of. Where else can you stay in a 800 year old palace. Real Memory maker!
The only down side is it was hard to find, small sign. Next door to British Embassy. But they have parking for only 20 euro's which is very cheap in florence.

By car
The hotel is easily reachable by the motorway A1, exit Firenze Nord. Follow the indications for the station Santa Maria Novella, turn into Via della Scala to the left and at the end take the right (via dei Fossi) cross the bridge of the Arno river. At the end of the bridge you take the left and cross once again the river. At the end of this bridge you take the left and after 30meter you will stay in front of Hotel Bretagna.
By train
The hotel is 5 minutes walk from the Santa Maria Novella railway station.
By airplane
The hotel is 15 minutes by taxi or 25 minutes with shuttle service from the Florence airport. |
