Hotel Cozumel & Resort Cozumel Guest Reviews

5 out of 5

I had read some reviews that were bad, talking about poor food, unfriendly staff, hard beds (they were firm but not what I would call hard), no hot water and on and on. We didn't have any problems what so ever and would reccomend this hotel with 2 thumbs up. There was enough different kinds of food that if you went away hungry it was your own fault. Would NOT reccomend the Grayline shuttle service. They will charge you more money when you want to leave the airport and then they are not around when it comes time to leave or pay for your taxi. They are a poorly run business.

The hotel staff and location are great. They need to improve their food selection. lunch consists of some salads, pasta and what is left over from the night before. the pool snack bar is a better choice for lunch. there idea of evening entertainment is playing bingo, or movie night, no shows, no music. The diving is really great, 200ft. visabilty, really wonderful dive boat crews.

the staff were incredibly friendly, caring and professional. It was hard to say goodbye to many of them! All inclusive package was a great deal. Hotel is not really fancy but it is comfortable, clean and in a perfect location. Dive Paradise shop across the street - took my full certification course with them and it was a fantastic experience. Can't wait to go back to Cozumel and will stay at Hotel Cozumel and Resort.

Nice hotel in a good location, its a 20 minute walk to town where all the restaurants are. Huge pool and gorgeous patio area. Great staff. Free WIFI. Dive shop on site. The food was good but we only bought the breakfast package and ate in town the rest of the time. Yes the hotel could use a little renovation but we thought it was a good value. The only negative is that we could hear everything going on the the halls and next door despite the obvious thick room walls. Not a big deal since everybody was diving and on the same sleep schedule.

Great place for divers. Nice daily buffet and also fresh fajita/taco bar at pool. Cocktail selection was excellent. Dive Paradise across the way has special deals, etc. and nice staff with variety of boats. The staff all the around were friendly and professional. Some fun PG activities at night. Here are THREE things they can improve. Cut the price of Spa treatment in half. At $80hr for massage, no one was buying. Beware the rental scooters, mine had a busted signal light. They should also let diners bring food into the adjacent bar so single travelers can eat while watching sports, etc. on TV.

My ninth trip to COZ, my eighth staying at the HCR, and it is what it is, there's no better place to stay. Close to town, nice rooms, food services, hotel activities, the whole package is great, that's why I stay there all the time, oh, the diving is super, too! Trying to coach (heavily) my scuba shop whereas instead of those other guys "up the road" we'll stay at the HCR from now on. Already planning my next mission, diver away!

Great for divers! Couldnt be more convenient. We enjoyed breakfast daily but didnt go for all inclusive...liked venturing into town for absolutely wonderful food/restaurants. Enjoyed staying by the pool after diving - bar service great! - kept away from big cruise ship days in town...too crazy. Would recommend this resort to friends and family alike.

This hotel has a great location at a great price. It is a short walk downtown and right across the street from the beach. Scuba and snorkeling couldn't be more convenient. The staff was friendly and the activity crew was great. The food was good and had good variety. The rooms were clean and the pool was great. Overall, a great experience!

It's a great dive/family resort. Food was good. Wait staff was excellent! Dos xx lager on tap always cold!!! Get a pool view room. Beach area across road was great! Nice swim area. Dive lockers beside pier with fresh water wash tanks. Plenty of room to hang up gear to dry. We always use pepe's scuba for diving. They picked us up every am at 9 on the pier. Best dive shop on island! Abdias is a great dive master! Cozumel digital creations for underwater dive video. Look for ours on YouTube. Cozumel scuba 2011 or Cozumel digital creations. This is a laid back dive resort. Mostly buffets for food and walk up bar service. We had several picky eaters in our group and everyone always found something to eat. The lime soup and tomatoa soup are both great!!! If you want full menu meals and wait staff skip this place.the cozumel palace is 1/4 mile toward town and double the price go there for 5 star service. Everyone is in dive gear or swimtrunks here. Activities were fun but it's not a full production like a cruise ship. Quiet most of the time. Activity staff did a very good job with dance lessons and daily water volleyball. Pool side grill will cook anything u like just ask. Fish tacos fajitas cheese burger etc... Make sure and book all inclusive before you arrive otherwise it's about $70 per room per day extra. We paid $100 a day with orbits for 7 days all inclusive king room. Wifi is great in lobby and around pool. It's pretty good in rooms. We were able to use skype video to call home with no problems. 5 min walk to the mega or jimmy buffets and 10 min walk to shopping area. Or $4-6 cab ride anywhere downtown area. If you have a problem the hotel staff will bend over backwards to resolve it. However they cannot and will not negotiate prices if you make a mistake or orbits makes a mistake in booking. Make sure you book what you want before you leave home!!!!!!! All in all great vacation and we will be back next year.

I've stayed at this hotel over the years as it has transitioned from one owner to the next... It is walking distance to San Miguel, well positioned on the waterfront, has a very good meal, free parking, good security, several amenities and very well priced. I would not hesitate to return. When asked, others staying here had the same opinion.
