Getting there:Hotel De’Moc is located on Prajatipatai Road, opposite Treethotsathep Temple and only a short walk to Khao San Road and famous cultural sites in the Rattanakosin area including the Grand Palace, Reclining Buddha, Emerald Buddha, Royal Grounds, Democracy Monument and Golden Mount, among others. The hotel is only 40 km with direct access from Suvarnaphumi International Airport.

Retro design hotel. friendly staff , good service! Walkable to Kaosan Road and not far from Grand Palace. Free shuttle TukTuk to Kaosan Road. I think this hotel could be a best hotel around this area. Taxi to Kaosan Road < 40 Baht, to Grand Palace < 50 Baht.
Hotel De'Moc is situated very close to all the happenings of old Bangkok, including the grand palace, the Chao Praya and Khao San Road. A homely hotel, it could be referred to as a little old looking but this is half the charm. A haven after a night at Khao San, it should cost only 30 baht to Khao San although many tuk tuks will offer 100 - 50 baht. Nice pool, good free wireless internet, cool bell boys and staff, yummy breakfast and in low season, good value at 1400 baht. about 350-400 baht meter taxi including tolls from the Airport. Overall a good place to stay away from the hussle and bussle of Khao San and Pratunam. Be ready for the tuk tuks offering 50 baht or free trips for a couple of hours.... they will want to take you to a ""TAT" office or to a sliver shop to get themsleves 5 litres of free gasoline.... just say no... it is a 10 minute walk to Khao San... if you don't get lost
The hotel de moc was recommended to us by friends and we were not disappointed. The hotel is a solid 3 star facility offering a few nice touches complimentry bathrobes in the the rooms and a combination western asian buffet breakfast included included in the daily rate. The staff were courteous and helpfull. The biggest plus the hotel offers its proximity to the old city

staff were friendly, the hotel was clean, the upgrade didnt show much, but the room was clean and bright. has an outdoor swimming pool, bar, thai massage area and resturaunt. a pleasant stay.
Good touristy hotel. Superior room overlooks a noisy Rd, standard room - where I stayed last time looked over the pool??!! Godd value - great breakfast, helpful staff, friendly all round.
the hotel room was spacious and clean, however the upgrade wasnt really worth it as there didnt seem much difference. the bar is open until 3 with a pool table outdoor seating and good music, the outdoor swimming pool is respectable but great for a dip. the hotel staff were mostly friendly and spoke reasonably good english. the hotel also offers free tuk-tuk service to khaosan rd, and free travel to grand palace before 10am mon-sat. the consierge is friendly and speaks good english. breakfast is basic but does the job :)
the hotel room was spacey and clean, the upgrade is not much, but didnt see much difference between the two rooms, so if you are very budget consious the standard is fine. hotel has a screened off outdoor swimming pool but the fitness centre is not onsite, it is located in khaosan road, in a hotel owned by the same guy, the hotel does offer a free tuk-tuk service to this site however. the staff were reasonably polite, could have been better but their english is standard. the concierge is a lovely lady who is able to help with almost anything. the buffet breakfast is average but no complaints! a pleasant stay.

Great Hotel, make sure that you tell the taxi driver that it's called the Thai Hotel because they don't know yet it's been renamed Hotel De'Moc. Trust me, a 4 hour cab ride while driving in circles on a late rainy night definitly sucks.
It is not located in Chinatown but is close to Khao San Rd. Good for one-two nights. Numerous restaurants in the area.
Seemed to be very little hot water. TV channels very limited. Also quite out of the way. Having said that, very pleasant, friendly and clean hotel (excellent breakfast, and great swimming pool).
