We found the staff very professional, helpful and friendly. Facitlities are of high standard and the cleanleness and location of the hotel was top notch to us. Would recommend to all.
A clean but ordinary room but there was a lingering smell of tobacco from smoking even though the rooms were non smoking.
Comfort and location were just great! Staff were very friendly and obliging. However there was no mention of the cost of parking in the booking process, and I think this should be clearly stated up front as it changes the price comparisons when deciding between hotels. This problem is not unique the Grand Chancellor.
Great location and spacious room. The room requires redecorating: stained carpet, and drapes.
Excellent - very good value at $119
It was a good, stay, very clean, nice sized apartment, decor was a bit dated but facilities in the room covered everything you could need. Unfortunately when checking out when I produced the confirmation voucher and deposit receipt delivered by email to me by the rates to go website, the guy behind the counter said, "Im sorry we have no recollection of you paying a deposit- you'll have to pay the full amount now and take it up with rates to go. Eventually after a LOT of waiting and supervisors arriving they accepted my pre deposit so I had only the remained to pay. ANd after all of that no apology or anyhthing so it left a bitter taste in my mouth. Apart from that everything was good.
It was excellent, and we would come again, Thanks Hotel Grand Chancellor.
The hotel was in an ideal location for our needs, and the first impression of our room was really nice. I was impressed at how spacious, comfortable it was, with a large kitchen, dining and bathroom. (larger than I expected). However it was the little things that let it down. Where do you put the soap or the shampoo when you're in a shower that has no shelf???? Or, how does the man in your life have a shave when the bathroom sink has no plug?? Also the presence of a hair where the nice little soap sits and the stain on the cushion on top of the bed were just a couple of things that seemed to stick out like a sore thumb. I would however like to give them the benefit of the doubt and stay there again as it was a lovely room.
Excellent room but hotel let down by abysmal buffet breakfast (25NZD). Cooked food was cold - we asked for fresh eggs & bacon which were cooked grudgingly and then put on the counter with the old items. We complained when checking out and were refunded the cost of the breakfast. Location of hotel fine close to Viaduct harbour and waterfront.
We have stayed in many hotels around the world. We were delighted with this one and would definitely stay again. Highly recommended especially if you like a kitchen and laundry tucked away in room and indoor pools. Excellent value and service.
Great stay would recommend. Good facilities in room.
The staff were exceptionally efficient, rooms very neat and clean. The location is very good for walking about downtown shopping and as a base for sight seeing in Auckland. We enjoyed it and would stay again - likely in April 2011.
Great value for money, great central location. Having Gym closed for painting was unfortunate, but it's good to see that they care enough to maintain standards. Please do something about the "House Wine" it's lacking..!!
The room we stayed in didn't look anything like the one in the photo on the internet. It was a bit disappointing. We asked for a non smoking room but the floor we stayed on stunk of cigarette smoke and cooking smells. The bed was small although we had asked for a king size and they didn't service our room at all during our stay. A bit disapointed as we don't get away from the kids much and this was supposed to be a special weekend that was marred by the facilities. The kitchen facitilites in the room were good thou and the breakfast was nice.
good service room could do with a few repairs
Good basic hotel in great central location. Stains on bedcover and floor, otherwise very comfortable. Lower floors close to street noise at night so next time will ask for room on upper floors with a view. Staff friendly and helpful :-)
We enjoyed our stay here although it was hard to find the entrance. Only other downside was the roadnoise at night.
Happy with our stay here. A very good location and the staff were friendly and efficient.
