I felt this Ibis was a convert from a Formule 1 - and it's still under renovation a bit... the rooms are not very sound proof so we were woken up by roudy guests that have come back from a drunken late night singing songs. Staff were wonderful though!
the room was extremely small, the carpet was dirty, the coffee mugs had stains in them,l asked if breakfast was included, they said no,only to find out on the 2nd day that it was as we paid for it.Did not seem to have enough staff,as we were being checked in he was also making coffee, then the chef was also checking in people. l did admire the hard work of the staff, particularly jonathon and Jessica who both worked front desk and cafe at the same time.
Found the room very small, and noisy
Very small rooms with a cubicle for a bathroom. Shower was not that hot. Parking is an extra $12.00 if required. Looks a little tired and not in mint condition - probably I would rate this as 3.5 starts at best. You have tpo leave $50.00 when you check in even if room is pre-paid - I thought that was a bit rude. Not sure i would stay here again.
the service was a bit average and it's quite a while away from the centre of town, but it was cheap enough not to matter too much.
Nice hotel - central to most things. Had to pay for over-night parking of $12, or park on the street. Tidy room, no noise, a decent hotel.
The room was very hot, but the airconditioner was too loud to be running overnight. There was also a lot of street noise.
Good location, staff are excellent, extremely helpful and very friendly.
Limited menu but food was good. Average main course was $26. Can order your meal and then pick it up to take up to your room if you want to. $12 per night parking was excessive. You can stay at the [other hotel] for around the same price and free parking available
Rooms cramped, nowhere to store clothing, bathroom good.Handicapped parking at front usually full of vehicles without handicapped passes. Excellent staff let down by inferior premises.
The lady who checked us in was very helpful and extremely polite. She gave us lots of useful information which helped us plan our stay in Newcastle.
I always have to go to Newcastle on business. I normally stay there 1-3 days. The best value for money is the Ibis( I have stayed at other hotels, but they were more expensive) The Ibis is in an unpleasant area, but since I go out in the morning to work and come back by 6 , it's alright. There are free buses for the city area , which are right in front of the hotel from 8:00-18:00.The Newcastle train station( middle of the city) is about 5 bus stops ahead ( 5-10 minutes). Civic station is closer. When there is a late meeting or dinner I get a taxi (around 7 dollars). Breakfast is delicious ( around 15 dollars) .The ceasar salad or pasta are a good choice for dinner , I didn't like the steak sandwiche.Staff are really friendly. I recommend this hotel
The Hotel room was compact and clean. The price was good. The area of Newcastle (Hunter Street) is awful, very run down and derelict. But it is close to the harbour front, train station and football stadium.
a bit of a seedy area and a little noisy but not bad for teh price
A clean and comfortable room.Staff friendly, efficient and professional. Disabled facilities were functional, but the drainage from the shower was a little wayward. Caution needed to prevent water build up from flowing under door to bedroom. Overall stay experience was good.
Excellent value for money. Even allowing for the cost of Syd real estate, I can't understand why this Ibis is SO much better than [other hotel] where i have stayed recently. One slight drawback at Newc is the all night train noise
It was fine for a short stay...staff very helpful...rooms small but had all that was necessary...a pleasant stay
Friendly staff - conveniently located. Small room, but suited our purpose just fine. Would stay again.
