The location was between the night market and Forbidden City. Both were short walks away. The hotel staff, especially the bellmen were polite and helpful and spoke engish very well. I took a tour to the Great wall one day and walked to the Forbidden city the other. Both were worthwhile experiences.
Ok - there may be better appointed or more luxurious, but it doesn't get better than the Kapok. Fantastic location near the Forbidden City, Tianamen and the shopping streets, only about 2.5 KM to the silk market. The staff is fantastic. I travel the world for business and have found none better! Restaurant was quite good and a good value as well. When I am in Beijing, I don't even look at other places. This is my home away from home in China's capital city.
This place was dynamite. It is classy and elegant in an understated way. Much different feel from the Western brand five star hotels, but every bit as nice. Staff was fantastic. Very accommodating, friendly and available. My only issue was trying to regulate the room temperature was a bit more complex than it should have been. Other than that minor inconvenience, this place could not have been better!
if you plan to go to beijing for 3 to 5 days, this is for sure the best place. close to the subway, forbidden city, and a ini market next door.
If you are planning to go to beijing for 3 to 5 days, you would like to consider this hotel. close to the subway (really important in beijing considering the traffic issues they have). also close to the Forbiden City temple of the emperor. you can also book at the hotel any kind of toor, at a good price. we didnt have breakfast, but there is a really good mini market next to the hotel, really cheap and you can buy anything you need. really a good option.
A small well-organised hotel, with responsive staff and a service-attitude, Kapok is close to Forbidden city and major shopping mall, so has interesting walks without inhalation of major-road fumes, noise and tedium. With a good breakfast and restaurant, Kapok is ideal for moderate budget and new-to-China travellers. I enjoyed it and would return for short period stays. Only down-side was that air-conditioning in room did not get temperature below 25C. That was okay for me in late May, but might be difficult in hotter season, and if people like refridgeration!
I enjoyed my stay at Hotel Kapok Beijing. The bed was soft and very comfortable. Each room has a free internet access. The location is unbeatable. You can walk less than 20 minutes to Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square and Wangfujing Night Market. But you can always grab a taxi as fare is not expensive less than RMB10 to these attractions.
Hotel Kapok Beijing is in a great location. Walking distance to the Forbidden City and Wangfujing Night Market. The rooms are spacious. Bed is very soft and comfortable. Although the bathroom is strange that instead of a wall, you have a glass partition that has a curtain you can close for privacy. Free internet access in each room.
Hotel Kapok Beijing is good location near the Wangfujing Food Market and Pedestrian Mall. The room is spacious. The bed is comfortable. There are two 24 hours convenience store (one opposite the hotel and another 50 meters to the left as you exit the hotel.) There are three restaurants opposite the hotel serving tasty delicious Chinese food at very reasonable prices. The Forbidden City gate is at the end of Donghuamen Street which is a good 5 minutes walk. You can ride a trolley car (fare is RMB1.00 per person) from this gate to the South Gate Main Entrance.
For the price I paid, the hotel is excellent with regard to its location, cleanliness and services. There is only one suggestion I have for improvement. I had breakfast in the hotel, and there was no bread. There was rice and potato. I think bread is a very basic and essential item which should be provided in a breakfast facility. Thank you.
Very well located, bright modern decor in excellent condition. Spacious room and huge bathroom, safe available, internet only available with your own laptop. Breakfast was good value and well presented. Level of spoken English varied with staff members. A misunderstanding about a pick up at the airport caused us a problem even though we had corresponded by email and a staff member had said OK. Overall an excellent hotel with helpful staff.
Stayed in a Courtyard room in late May-early June. Very impressed by the modern decor of the room, bathroom toiletries provided and the cleanliness of the room. Very quiet and best of all, the internet connection is free. The room is large enough for 2 and the bed is comfortable. There are a few convenience stores around the hotel and it is within walking distance to Tiananmen, Forbidden City and Wangfujing (food and shopping). Very well located. The area is secured as it's near where the government officials work so the place is heavily patroled by policemen.
A very good hotel, close to Forbidden City and shopping areas. Very pleasant staff. We were upgraded to a Junior Suite which was large and beautifully equipped. Overall a great experience.
the hotel is located between the main shopping street and the forbidden city. walking distance to both. 100-130 yuan from the airport. the guys at the door were great with sugestions, maps, taxis, help with luggage. the girls at the front desk were a bit lost doing their job. most requests required individual thinking and then group discussion between them. the cleaners were pleasant and thorough. the breakfast buffet was good but the price on the bill for it was 60 yuan pp for each of the 4 mornings, on the last morning the bill was 70 yuan pp. upon checking out i was charged 70pp everyday. it was not a big deal but i do wonder why i signed for one price and got charged another. the twin rooms have a curtain as the door/wall to the bathroom/showers. the curtain look great but it might not be suitable for those needing privacy in the loo.
1) Likes: I like their nice and firm beds. The design of the room is trendy. I also feel safe in this hotel, as when I tried to ask the reception to give me another key card, he verified my identity by asking for my passport. The front desk ppl is quite competent in english. It is Forbidden City and Wangfujing are just 10 mins walk. There are also some nice beijing eateries opposite the restaurants, i had my lunches there and it was great and cheap! I would stay here again if the price is right. 2) Dislikes: No swimming pool (but the weather is cold, im not in a mood to swim). There is not much walking space in the room. There is no shower door, so the water tend to splash to the 'toilet bowl' floor area. Hair dryer is quite weak. Internet access is weak in the room, but u can use the internet with your laptop in the lobby area.
A good, modern and clean hotel, newly renovated and with walking distance to different popular locations. If you dont need the pool, spa and other irrelevent facilities this hotel is a good stay. Will most probably choose it again in the future.
It is clean and nice. Comfortable. We booked two rooms, but upon checked in, they said we only booked one room. Nevertheless, they took the initiative to check with respective party and gave us 2 rooms. Some of the staffs were friendly and helpful. We stayed five nights, so, they managed to recognize and greet us most of the time. Location is quite convenient, but quite a distance from subway. A lot of restaurants and able to catch taxi easily too. Good experience.
Very comfortable rooms and good service (albeit a bit cold). Nice location and good food in the hotel restaurant, but a bit expensive. Will recommend visitors to the hotel.
the hotel is very clean and modern. However, check in is very poor - rooms are not prepared and you have to wait for at least half an hour to get your room even when arriving late afternoon/early evening. The staff are helpful if you ask for assistance but otherwise they do not go out of their way to help. The business centre was very efficient and helpful.
