This is my second time staying at Hotel Morales and I forgot how thin the walls are. I was given a cornor room (right next to the elevator), where you could hear the elevator go and down, and people talking. Other then that the service was really good, clean rooms, good food, and walking distance to all historic downtown life.
Convenient location to historic area and attractions. Clean, very well maintained hotel. Large comfortable room with in room jaccuzi. Doubled paned windows keep outside hustle and bustle out. Efficient and friendly staff. Have stayed here several times, always a good experience and value. New pool and gym are a great addition.
Colonial architecture & decoration, wood floor, color cable television with remote, in-room electronic safe, coffee maker & facilities, full private bathroom with hairdryer, air conditioning, telephone, wardrobe, iron & ironing board, electronic lock and free high-speed Internet access. I enjoyed my stay in the hotel.the breakfast buffet needs be richer. the table cutlery need be of better quality
The hotel is a beautiful restoration. The staff was courteous and friendly. If we needed something, it was given to us very quickly. They have a shuttle to and from the airport and the driver meets you with a sign as you exit the terminal. This is really helpful after a whole day with plane changes and security.
I found this hotel through an on-line service and booked it. It couldn't have been better! The hotel is in a converted colonial style house, with interior courtyards. Decorating is very tasteful and comfortable. The room was well lit. The breakfast buffet is a reasonable value, and the hotel is only 3 blocks from the cathedral. They have a small fitness center on the roof deck.
My wife and I spent 3 nights at this delightful hotel and experienced none of the negatives that some of the other reviews have complained about. Our room was an outside balcony room with a double pane glass door. There was a little street noise, but it was not awful. Plus, you have to understand that in downtown Guad, in an old hotel you will not have total silence. The staff was courteous and prompt, and the room was spotless. Yes the room has a laminate floor, but for less than $80/ night is that really a big deal? The bullfight crowd tends to be a partying bunch so you might want to check to find out when that season is in full swing if you want to avoid rowdiness. Breakfast at La Chata. Get there before 9:00 AM for little or no wait
If you want to visit old Guadalajara (and there is a lot to see!), this location cannot be beat. You are within a walking distance to most tourist attractions, great restaurants, cafes, shops. The hotel is in an old but recently rennovated building, with very nice architectural features. Rooms are spacious and well appointed; very comfortable beds; clean bathrooms; well-working free internet (if you request a cable - wireless is not too great); TV with a reasonable selection of channels; a coffee maker in the room; you get two complementary bottles of water every day. Some rooms have only windows on the inside of the building (looking into a large but fully enclosed atrium) so you don't have any view and don't know if it is a night or a day. If this matters to you, you may want to specifically ask for a room with exterior windows (we asked and were moved on the second day). If you choose a room with exterior windows, you should expect quite a bit of noise from the street though, as the hotel is located near a busy intersection and there is a bar across the narrow street on one side of the building. The hotel has an outdoor swimming pool on the third floor - nice but not heated, so the water was pretty cold in late October. The gym is basic but very little used so you can have it to yourself. The hotel has a restaurant - we only had breakfast there which was quite nice (probably the best breakfast buffet we have had in recent years for under $10). Everyone at the hotel is very friendly and helpful - we had a great stay and will choose this hotel again if we return to Guadalajara.
Great for us to visit all the historical sites and Central squares of this Old Colonial Town established in 1542. Catherdal built in 1531 across the street and only a few blocks from Theatre Delgado , Artisan Market, Museums and Legislative Bldgs. Cabanas ( old Orphanage) is a must see and still within 1k walking distance. Staff super friendly , private cars booked if needed. Inner courtyard on all floors a real Oasis and feeling of serenity in a crazy busy city. Negative is the street noise at night , but the quiet rooms without an outside window were musty. Pool on the roof really nice. For the price a great stay! Breakfasts and food, wholesome and very reasonable. .
The best part about my stay was looking around the hotel. It is historic and very pretty. The bed was a little hard and my wife said the pillows were a little big and hard for her. I thought they were fine. Noise transfers pretty easily here but we weren't really bothered by it. The taco place across the street is incredible! As is the restaurant down the block to the right a little called Gorda-something. We were close walking distance to the center of town where we saw the mercado lots of sights. We would most likely stay there again if we were back in town.
I enjoyed the area and all the interesting places within walking distance. It's a busy area but safe and polite to tourists. A few of the local restaurants had menus in English.
The hotel was a wonderful place to stay in Guadalajara. The hotel was near many wonderful sights. The stay there was amazing. The workers there were very attentive and respectful. They would always go clean our room, have our car ready, among many other things. The hotel exceeded our expectations. We truly recommend this hotel. Next time we go to Guadalajara, we will definitely stay there again.
We truly enjoyed Hotel Morales. It's location is excellent. We love the idea of being only two blocks away from the historic downtown Guadalajara. The staff and services are superb. We highly recommend this hotel. If you can, book a room with a Jacuzzi. Your body will appreciate it after a walk through Guadalajara's Historic Downtown and colorful markets!
Great hotel in a great location. The staff were very friendly and helpful. English speaking as well for non-Spanish speakers. The concierge helped with everything from organising tours to giving directions to local restaurants and street food as well as nearby attractions. All that you'd usually expect from a 5-star hotel.
best location beautiful old hotel from 1550 but totally restored a gem
Wonderful location, great service, amazing rooms. Would highly recommend.
Would highly recommend. Great location, price, staff and rooms.
Hotel Morales was a lovely, historical hotel. Great attention paid to details in architecture, furnishings, cleanliness and service overall. The food in the hotel restaurant was delicious, especially the breakfast brunch which had a wonderful variety of both Mexican and Western fare. It was right in the heart of the historical centre of Guadalajara. We would definitely recommend it and would certainly stay there again.
Beautifully renovated building with a good ambience
Hotel was wonderful, clean and breathtaking. Staff were mostly helpful but on arrival the desk staff couldn't find our booking and would not speak in english. We felt very uncomfortable and had to wait not knowing what was happening. Once they found our names... staff were all smiles.
I had several instances where the service was not very good - little things like bringing up my luggage when they said they would, picking up dishes after room service, getting a drink at the bar. Very nice hotel but service is lacking.
