I was very pleased with Hotel Phoenix. The location is in Nampo, which is near good shopping, nice restaurants, a new beautiful Lotte Department store, and close to Busan Station. The hotel is old, but I felt that it was cozy and nice. It was nice for me because it was cheap and I could reserve my place with my American credit card, but pay with Korean won, which is better for me since I live in Korea. I felt totally comfortable here for 3 days. Also, it has a bathtub, which is always nice!
The people working the desk were absolutely wonderful. They were really intrested in serving the customer. They helped with getting me to the bus terminal, and were ok that I shortend my stay. They refunded the prepaid days that I was not able to use. The hotel rooms are old, but ok (noisy on street side...just use ear plugs). The pillows were great and the sheets were very nice. The rooms have fast Internet sevice, and they also have a PC in the lobby with printer attached in case you need to print something. The price is excellent. The area has alot to see.
Old hotel very good location, just in front of the famous fish market, 10mn by taxi to main train station. The hotel is quite old and would need urgent refurbishment, but everything was working in the room even its old style. good point, fast Internet is free in the room.
The hotel is not the best you could hope for, with not much facilities especially no water even. However, it's a proper hotel and suitable for low budget travels. Besides it's location is superb. It lies in the middles of many attractions and is just a 5 min walk from the subway station. So if you just need a bed to sleep on it's a good place to stay.
In it's prime the Pheonix Hotel must have been quite a gem. The lobby is still quite nice, but the room itself was somewhat shabby. This aside, it was very clean and the staff speak great English. It is in a great location; near markets, movie theatres, lots of restaurants (Korean and other) and the subway. I would stay there again if I return to Busan.
All in all considered, hotel was good value; dont let the first impression throw you off--it is very clean even if furniture (and walls) are old. They actually gave me a little more of a discount of the already low price (50,000won. I wouldnot want to stay here at rack rate, but discounted is ok value
Rather cheap and you get what you pay for... Room long passed their prime, dirty bathroom, old TV set, no internet, etc. But good location on a busy avenue, close to a metro station, between the fishing market and another market with their busy surrounding streets. We stayed there one night, which was ok but wouldn't have liked to stay there much longer.
Rather dated hotel which appears stuck in the 70's, but the staff were great (they went out of the way to try and help us with our stay in Busan and were full of great advice). Hotel is right next to the Metro, opposite the fish market and right next to Piff Square (great shopping and cinemas) so it's location cannot be matched.
