Hydro Hotel Penang

1) Hotel does not provided tooth brush and tooth paste . 2) Very clean swimming pool. 3) Small but clean beach with nice view. 4) RM2.70 to go Komtar shopping area 5) Suitable for relaxation. 6) nice live performance. 7) Airport to hotel taxi costs rm69, book from hotel to airport rm60.

Clean, comfortable room with a great sea view. Since we came at low season, they upgraded us to a Superior room, which was quite spacious and appreciated. Breakfast buffet is pretty average, but acceptable. One "a la carte" meal was quite good but slightly pricey by Penang standards. Pool is OK with good poolside seating, and the little beach is well worth the 75+ steps to get to it...just to sit in the shade and enjoy the sea.

This is our first stay at this hotel. Our check-in was speedy and efficient. Our deluxe room is spacious and clean. It is highly recommended.

Exec Deluxe room we had booked was not to expected standard & we were (gratefully) upgraded. Property was extremely busy, so breakfast was CHAOTIC at best. Porter service was ABYSMAL. No-one to collect bags on arrival, couldn't/wouldn't organise a taxi on departure - waited over an hour! Local bus is cheap & efficient - just a few minutes to/from the night market. WIFI is charged and in public areas is conditional on purchase.

This is our 2nd stay at the Hydro Hotel Penang. Had a pleasant stay though we noticed the breakfast buffet was not as good as before.

Room was very clean and spacious. Howver, flushing system in toilet was not working. We only stayed for one night.

One of the best hotels i have stayed at in Penang.Great bus service at the front of the hotel to Georgetown or Batu Feringi.Hotel staff were wonderful.

I had to wait for about one hour for check in.We travelled from KL on the car for 5 hours and were very tired and stiff. There were many other guests who were getting impatient and angry with the procedure. It was painfully slow and poor receptionists were running around like headless chickens . I have never seen any worse reception. Although it is a good hotel in a good location and other facilities are good I would not come back to avoid the same painful experience

The hotel was a very affordable option especially when there were three of us. It is a little way out from the main tourist area but at 10 ringit for a taxi its worth the quieter area. The pool was great as it was deep enough for my son to enjoy but not so deep as for us to be continually worrying about him. Our main criticism would be the restaurant which was very slow except at breakfast when it was a buffet. What ever you do never order the Fish Laksa its disgusting. The staff are very friendly and generally helpful. The wireless broadband to rooms did not work and at 10 ringit an hour it was annoying. the business centre was good for internet but only open till 5. Best internet option was down in the tourist area for 3 ringit for 30 minutes. Overall a good option if you are on a budget

Very pleasant hotel, strategic location (even though not directly on the beach), friendly staff. Warmly recommend this hotel!

BAD : The location is actually 4K from Batu Feringgi, busy dangerous road - no footpath. Hotel bar price £4.60 ( 23 RM ) for small 330ml bottle of beer, restaurant prices also much higher than normal price, Bar and restaurant almost empty at night. Not many bar/restaurants nearby. Beach nearby is quite small. Complimentary shuttle minibus to George town refused to take us with bags even when booked and empty. Will never stay there again. Good : Great room, regular buses(only 1 route though, national park to George town), good buffet breakfast, nice pool, friendly.

Great hotel, modern, clean, friendly and attentive staff. the hotel is a 5 or so minute drive from the main beach/shops/restaurants which can be annoying however a shuttle goes there in the afternoon. definitely recommend this hotel.

Good value for money. Bathroom needs some maintenance but otherwise its very nice.

Excelelnt service, but must consider the low occupancy. Location not the best. Courtsey couch had no AC working

Lounge is a good place to hang out, and they mix strong drinks!! The place can use a couple of more elevators. I was expecting the place to have a gym. Parking is a mess, and they take no responsibility of your car on their own premises.

While we were in the room, they did the drilling job next room, and it was very noisy for 10 minutes without any notice to us. The hotel has changed management from Federal Feringgi to Hydro Majectic, we stayed there 2 years ago, but 2 years ago the service and amenities was better. The cashier when we checked out was not friendly at all. However, it was so sweet of the hotel to prepare a red bag with 2 oranges and a red pocket in our room.

The hotel has lots of room to expand and need some seriuos work to get it done

The hotel is pretty nice for the price, but everything is a little old and not 100% clean. The location is the min problem, this hotel is not at the Batu Ferringhi Beach!!!!! You have to go around 5-10min with taxi or shuttle (the shuttle is limited and you have to reserve and be lucky to get a seat in the morning!), even in the evening you have to go with taxi to the city (nightmarket, restaurants, and so on) as there is nothing around the hotel exept one little cafe at the hotel beach. The sea is even not very nice, it is very dirty and very loud at the beach. So if you want to make holidays on the beach do not go to Penang at all!!!

The hotel is aged in appearance and needs a fresh coat of paint. The potted plants used to decorate the corridors, public toilets and outside the restaurants are too frail and are eyesores.
