In 1963, The Independence Hotel used to be Sihanouk Ville’s most luxurious and elitist accommodation. It was definitely one of Cambodia’s most reputable resorts. While the 7th floor building was the work of renowned French architects, the interior was designed by no other than His Majesty King Norodom Sihanouk, the ruler of the Kingdom during that era. Today, the Independence Hotel is fully restored to its former beauty and glory. The 88 elegantly designed room and suites feature every convenience for all types of guests from business to leisure travelers. The breathtaking resort setting and its distinctive décor give guests a felling of luxury and tranquility.

This is a lovely hotel steeped in history and tucked away from the chaos that can mark other areas of Sihanoukville. My only complaint is that the website seemed to indicate Wi-Fi was included in the price of the deluxe room, but I had to pay an extra $20 a day to get the Wi-Fi access in the room. This is absurd, since you can get a perfectly good beach bungalow that includes free Wi-Fi elsewhere in Sihanoukville for under $20 a day. Why not just include the Wi-Fi for free.

Stunning location. Outstanding staff. Good restoration. Crazy wi-fi price. Tranquility shattered for 20 hours (24 minus 4 for sleep) by two coach loads of students. Question management's market positioning in this respect. Bottom line - would return without hesitation.
