Since Woolf's time, the Inglés has attracted more than its share of less-celebrated artists and writers. It's best for those looking for location and value rather than luxury..." An interesting old hotel, but I would rate it as a superior two-star (based on my stay in a single room that opened into the air shaft). The accommodation hasn't the character that the lobby might lead you to expect, and you should definitely have breakfast outside the hotel (but take a look at the breakfast room for a glimpse of Soviet-style misery). I found the reception staff very professional and courteous: they were happy to let me store my luggage; when I needed to print out my airline boarding pass, I was directed to a good internet bureau around the corner.
Decent-sized room although old-fashioned in decor. No hairdryer in room but can ask to borrow from reception (or bring your own!). Reception staff poor speakers of English, despite the name of the hotel! However, location of hotel was excellent for the price paid, and street fairly quiet despite being in centre of Madrid.
One of the major features of the hotel is its location; in the centre of all the major tourist attractions of Madrid. Rooms are clean and acceptably furnished for the level of hotel. Air conditioning would be a bonus - there was a fan. Also there is parking available for a reasonable price. All in all, good value.
Hotel reception unfriendly. No view. Breakfast poor. Could be an excelent hotel with these improved
The place looks and feels very very old. You have to pull down a chain to flush the toilet that should say it all
This hotel is really the best in the center of Madrid. We have one complaint thou, no WIFI, found a cafe with WIFI nearby.
No great, but good location and prices.
I like this hotel, allways go there when passing through Madrid. Not because it is excellent, but it is homey, and I like the big rooms and lightblue and black tiled bathrooms. It is perfectly centered in town - and quiet and has a garage
Great location; excellent friendliness; quality good enough for an active city holiday
The location is great if you want to party until 3 a.m. if not, bring good earplugs. The rooms were clean and there was always someone at the front desk to assist.
The reception staff could have been more friendly. Did not seem like they enjoyed their job.
We enjoyed our stay here and found everything satisfactory
This is a good three star hotel and although slightly tired in places was spotless throughout. The hotel is in a noisy part of town and the room we occupied had noisy neighbours. The hotel is very convenient for the main tourist attractions all within 15 minutes walk and surrounded with a large choice of eating places. I would use the Ingles again.
A small Hotel down a back street just by the theatre district. Great location for things to do, and for a walk to Plaza Mayor. Nothing really stands out about this hotel, but the staff were friendly and helpful and we'd definitely use it again if we go back to Madrid.
Far too noisy to sleep before 2 am. Old hotel but OK except for the noise from the street.
Located off a main road on the edge of the old part of the city, couple of minutes walk to the action. Good location to the main parks. Breakfast good.
The people were very nice and helpful. They made me feel very welcome. It was a safe area to stay for a woman traveling alone. This hotel is in the heart of Madrid- if you are looking for quiet nights, this is not your place, but if you want to be close to the action and parties this is where you want to be! I thoroughly enjoyed every minute!
it was o'k.
Very central, near metro but within walking distance of most sights. Had room at the back which was quiet. No complaints for the money.
In the old part of the hotel the water boiler has problems and does not provide hot water. We have had to run the water for 10 minutes to obtain a decent temperature, a terrible waste of water! The staff agrre that the owners need to overhaul the system!
