The Hotel INTUR Palacio San Martín is an old building in the heart of Madrid. Hotel stands next to the Convent de Descalzas, also easy walking location to Puerta del sol ,Palacio real,Plaza Mayor, and most major sight. Courteus helpful stuffs always there giving you directions, carriing your luggage. Public parking is just in front of the hotel. Small but comfortable room,We enjoyed our stay.
very good location to all sightseeing places in Madrid. very helpfull service in English
The perfect place to be! Friendly staff, clean rooms with large bed. Nice breakfast.
My husband and I stayed three nights at the hotel. The first room we were shown was too small and the hotel kindly provided a larger room (truthfully, our luggage just took up too much space). The room was adequate, no view, but extremely quiet. We slept very, very well. The breakfast provided by the hotel is wonderful and the service provided by the staff is excellent. We loved the location. We could walk to the museums (note: this is not the place to stay if you prefer to be adjacent to the museums and the touristy areas around the museums), viewing the city along the way and we were in close proximity to the Palace, shopping, and the many restaurants and tapas bars (Cava Baja) off of the Plaza Mayor. We would definitely stay there again! Understated elegance might best describe this hotel.
People live in the street outside and will beg as you approach the hotel. They are drunk etc. One of them was seen to enter the hotel and emerge after a few minutes, using the toilet ? which is next to the lift to all floors. Very bad security. Apparently the police are reluctant to move them on. Other than that a very fine hotel, good rooms with very quiet double glazing. Not sure if the Air Con was working properly. Despite all that we really liked the hotel.
This hotel is centrally located, very well managed, and worth every Euro. Staying here transformed our Madrid experience.
Great hotel. This is my third stay and I will definitely use this hotel again.
Lunch and dinner menu offer very little choice. Difficult to find staff to serve you. No access to internet if do not have own laptop. Mini-bar selection very poor and not refilled. When asked to call a taxi when I was leaving Iwas told with a jerk of the head to go to street around the corner. No offer to help with bags. Quite a long walk. Will not go back.
The only negative was that we asked for a room overlooking the Plaza (asked 6 months prior to dates when we made the reservation) and they did not give us such a room.
It is difficult to fault the Intur Palacio in any of the 5 catagories listed. Our room was excellent and spacious, whilst the location is first class. I would definitely stay there again without hesitation.
On isolated plaza next to famous monastary in the thick of everything. But quiet. Rooms with french doors overlook the little plaza. Prada and others within 15 min lazy walk. Puerta del Sol 200m. Internet cafe and 24 hour "7-11" both close. Bistros and shopping everywhere. They kept a bag for me for 5 days; they have friendly bellmen, and young desk personnel. Rooms are Large! HIgh ceilings! Class Bathrooms! It is a deal..
Ideal quiet location for exploring central Madrid. Hotel room of a very high standard. The choice at breakfast was excellent in the sixth floor restaurant. Very friendly Peruvian barman who speaks very good English.
Excellent central location, would recommend.
I would definitely recommend this hotel. We booked based on other reviews and found them accurate. Staff were helpful, rooms were larger than some other hotels offer and bathrooms clean and modern. Service good and prompt. Breakfast buffet excellent. And most importantly, the location was quiet (important for Spanish hotels if you want to sleep at all) even though the location was very central. Close to metros, sights, shopping etc. Two minutes walk to Puerto del Sol and 10 minutes to Prado and other museums.
I stayed in the Intur Palacio in September 2004.As a solo female traveller I found this hotel wonderful. Location could not be beaten and the breakfast wonderful. Helpful competent staff, especially the girl in charge of the dining room. Though in the centre of things it was very peaceful. I will be back.
Great Hotel and excellent location for visiting cental Madrid.
We were very impressed with location, service, room decor, cleanliness and buffet breakfast. We didn't use other facilities so can't comment, but we would definitely stay there again.
We stayed in this hotel during August when Madrid was rather quiet (due to all the Madrilenos on holiday) and so were able to take advantage of special holiday prices - a fabulous deal! We were very happy with the hotel, and it far exceeded our expectations. It was a great (so close to the Puerta del Sol and great nightlife), but still in quiet location. I would absolutely stay at the hotel again for my next trip to Madrid. We even recommended the hotel to others who have since stayed there.
Excellent hotel. A lovely building in a great location, with first class service. I would definitely stay there again.
