No.1, Nanheyan Street, Dongcheng District Beijing,China 100006
The Jade Garden Hotel was built in the 1930’s. In 1946, the Chinese Communist Party signed the Cease-Fire Agreement with the Guomindang. To carry out the Cease-Fire Agreement, the Guomindang, the Communist Party and the United States set up a joint Cease-Fire Committee in Beijing. The Jade Garden Hotel was chosen as the headquarters of General Ye Jianying, a hero of the Long March, and the Communist Cease-Fire Delegation—just some of the history of this building and its surroundings. The Jade Garden Hotel is situated at the center of Beijing. From the hotel’s entrance, you can see the east gate of the Forbidden City and the only walking street, Wangfujing Street, at the heart of Beijing’s shopping and business center, just five minutes away. From rooms on the south side of the hotel, you can see Tian’anmen Square and the traditional Beijing family house compounds (hutongs) surrounding the hotel. Tian’anmen Square and many impressive official government buildings, as well as the Ming imperial city wall, are within sight of the windows of guest rooms on the east side of the hotel, a 5 minute walk away. The Jade Garden Hotel has received a government rating of four stars, and in 1995 was designated a historical landmark. The guest rooms are furnished with comfortable Chinese furniture, modern or traditional. With its convenient location, beautiful surroundings and the best of service facilities, the Jade Garden Hotel is as the ideal choice for all travelers.

Great location between Forbidden City and Wangfujing, but this is a "locally" run hotel with all that that means in China. The staff were OK but they do lack a degree of customer service and attention that you would normally expect. The rooms are pretty spartan, well in need of renovation and come complete with the almost obligatory rock hard bed. I travel to Beijing frequently and i always like to try out new places, but i am unlikely to revisit this one.
I was there for only 3 nights, very central location - staff is very friendly and most of them speak english.. rooms are clean, you have a pc in each room for internet access (or use yours with a cable LAN). I didn't have a chance to try the pool or the restaurant there..

Have a very wonderful stay. Reach hotel at 9.30 am and requested early check in. Got a room ready by 10.15 am. The staff even apologised for the delay. Staff are well trained and able to handle situation very well. Rooms are spacious and clean. Near to Wangfu jing and Imperial palace..
Very good location near Wangfujing St. and the Tianmen Square/Forbidden City. Friendly staff and good breakfast buffet. A/C did not work at all times because of the restrictions on pollution. A clean, good and average priced hotel in Beijing.
Not so Chinese that it was difficult to manage. Really enjoyed this hotel and on an Australian scale, prices were reasonable. Two free water bottles a day much appreciated. Laundry not cheap, but brilliant. Would stay again.
Not good, not bad. Rooms were fine. Service so-so. Breakfast rather expensive compared to the quality. Not many good restaurants in walking distance. On the other hand, you are right next to the Forbidden City here. We afterwards found another hotel in a more lively area (Hutong), which was both better and cheaper.
An excellent hotel. Very good breakfast. Some difficulty in communication which will no doubt improve. Would certainly stay again.
Great location, lots of attractions within walking distance. Reception staff speak very little English so communication was a problem. Room good size but bathroom small. Air conditioning seemed to be set at 26c which was much too high for UK visitors. Twice requested that it be adjusted but temperature just crept back up again. Hotel buffet very good value. Tour booking office across the road & also Subway if you're really desperate for "normal" food. Don't order a taxi through the concierge. Taxi arrives extra early & you are charged accordingly!
The hotel is conveniently located but most cab drivers don't seem to know where it is even with the street name in Chinese! There's no MRT station nearby, the nearest being about 800m away. But the cheap cab fare in Beijing more than make up for affordable transport. We didn't have a chance to enjoy any of the hotel facilities so can't comment on that but the room condition surely exceeds our expectation. I'd highly recommend going for the Deluxe Executive Room. Hotel staff are very friendly too.
Jade Garden is a good hotel in Beijing although I am not sure about its 4 star rating. My room was spaceous enough. Be careful not to open some of the amenity packages in the bathroom because they charge for them even if you don't use. The hotel location is good for sightseeing and shopping, etc. I ate the buffet dinner at the hotel a few times (about $10) which was reasonable and good. They charge the same amount for buffet breakfast. I had a few minor issues while staying there and they sent service people right away.
This hotel was in such great location, close to the Forbidden city and shopping. And the internet service was free, the TV was the monitor screen-excellent!!!The breakfast buffet was excellent too.
i will recommnend this hotel.
This is an excellent hotel I mean excellent. Excellent location "Close to: Forbidden City, Walking street. Has Subway Sandwiches opposite, Travel agency to book the tours, on the same side there is Dragon Fly Massage Centre which is an international professional centre (massage only and nothing else), opposite the hotel there are couple of groceries that open late night. The rooms are cleaned on daily bases bed sheets are changed daily; you get a safe box, slippers, shaving cream & razor, tooth brush & paste, comb, etc... all disposable and changed daily. Tea, coffee, coffee whitener, sugar daily, water boiler etc... LCD in every room. Since my flight was late night they accepted to give me a late free check-out till 0600pm. Staffs are very helpful & always smiling. This is an excellent hotel highly recommended.
Whilst location was within walking distance of Tianenmen Sq, Forbidden City, Wanfujing shopping area etc some of the area surrounding the hotel was not very clean and was a bit run-down. Western Restaurant did not have very good selection of food - a lot of Chinese food in this "Western Restaurant". Otherwise hotel was clean and location good.
