"I recently stayed at the Jupiter hotel for a bachelorette party. The staff was very nice and allowed me to go in and decorate the room for the bride prior to check in time. We had a wonderful time with the chalkboard doors writing notes to the bride-to-be and drawing pictures (What a cool idea!). The room was unique in its decor- not a stuffy hotel look, but simple and hip.
The number one advantage to staying at the Jupiter for me was having the Doug Fir Lounge in the courtyard right outside. We had a fabulous dinner for our bachelorette, and sat around the firepit exchanging gifts and drinking wine. (Keep in mind our stay was on a Monday night, so I don't know if it gets more crowded on the weekends)- the firepit seems to be the most popular area outside.
If you are looking for a fun place to stay close to downtown Portland- this is definately for you!" - Anonymous
"I'd call the Jupiter a "special interest" hotel. It used to be your basic traveler's motel that was redone with a painful dose of youthful hipness. Draw with chalk on the door! Try out the complimentary condoms! Plug your iPod into the provided speakers! Go to a live music performance at the Doug Fir lounge! Don't get me wrong, this is all very cool if this fits your lifestyle. Small rooms, no other amenities besides the Fir. No on-site parking except in garage (extra fee). Fir generates lots of people milling around the parking lot until all hours. Good thing the air conditioner was loud... Not a good idea for families or salesmen. You're basically paying a lot for the boutique environment. Recommended if that is what you want! It would have been fun if I had been there specifically to see a show. Nice helpful staff. Location isn't near anything (across the river from downtown) and that part of Burnside st. is just a tiny bit rough. Farm Cafe next block over is good." - Anonymous
"I liked the style of the hotel it is very different from any other hotel I have stayed at. It was very clean and the service was great." - Anonymous
