Karaka Tree Motel Taupo

Only one night stayed but this place has everything the weary traveller needs, plus friendly staff. In general Taupo Motels are overpriced but with Karaka Tree you get the deep and expansive spa bath in the room as an extra for no extra price. Unfortunately I did not get a chance to use it but have on other occassions and they are the best, deep and relaxing. The rooms are big in comparison to most motels and there is a comfortable feel to them. I will definately stay there again

A nice standard motel. clean, well maintained with friendly staff. Having the mineral hot pool as part of the room was a fantastic bonus.

We were a bit disappointed because we couldn't see the lake and the facilities were quite basic. We thought a four star may have provided a little newer kitchen facilities. Everything just felt a little dirty. No duvet cover on bed, just sheet covering inner. No sky which disappointed the bloke. Great nights sleep however, motel was nice and quiet!

Old motel with average facilities, however clean and functional. Near major road so very noisy at night.

Very clean & not too far from town. Friendly cleaning lady. The motel is very close to busy intersection so noisy from trucks. The chap who booked me in wasn't overly helpful or friendly. Noticed we could hear everything being said from room next door so not a lot of wall insulation. Price was goodthough & included mineral spa.

Very handy locaton, unfortunately the other guests on the night we stayed were very noisy on there return to the motel and walls seem thin.

The room was very tidy and well presented. Our arrival was about 8.30pm and we were disappointed to find that after driving for a couple of hours that the spa bath was not able to be used after 9pm which I thought was quite early given that most people visiting a motel go out for dinner and would not be getting in till around 10ish. Staff were welcoming and informative.

The managers are helpful friendly and a pleasure to stay with, the staff are the best. Would recommend to anyone and everyone the highlight of my visit

maybe towels for the spa as well as the shower would help .

Bed was really uncomfortable and hard for us so not much sleep. All else was very good. Would recommend it as a very pleasant place to stay. Spacious room.

While a non-smoking motel the room stank of cigarette smoke. Sand bins outside the entrance , which has the only window beside it (apart from a window at the back of the motel) means smokers puff smoke into the units. No air con means no alternative but to leave the window open in summer. Cigarette ash hadn't been removed from directly outside the entrance. They need to remove those bins! Tea cups were also dirty. The price is steep for a faded motel. But the reception was very friendly and the motel quiet.

I suspect that we could have had better situated, newer accommodation nearer town for similar price but was not disappointed with this motel. The owners were extremely helpful with advice about local things to do.

Great location right accross from the Lake where there is a warm water spring. We enjoyed our stay very much and a very reasonable costs for the time of year. Thanks for the great stay!!

Lovely place to stay, simple facilities but very clean and the spa...luscious. Hot hot water from a thermal spring and nice after a day of travelling.

Very nice location and helpful staff - great spa pools - not very adequate cooking facilities for self-catering and no games room

There was significant road noise as we had to have the window open because it was a warm night and the Motel is very close to the main Taupo Road.

Helpful owners and clean motel, a bit far out of town if you don't have your car with you (we didn't!). Spa bath in each unit a bonus.
