Kingsgate Hotel Wellington

Thanks to a double promo deal, pricing was superb for this hotel for my three night stay over the weekend. Its a wee way out of the centre of things, being north of Parliament in Thorndon, but very close to transport and there are various cafes and a supermarket nearby. The room was not the largest I've stayed in but was perfectly adequate with a smallish flat screen TV, comfortable bed and a desk. There's a bar and restaurant onsite, but I never sampled them, as I was getting specialty beers from the supermarket and stashing them in the refrigerator.

The staff were just lovely here and we found the location wonderful for us with cafes and supermarket a 2 min walk, awesome.

I didn't choose this hotel, the helpful online staff at Hotel Club found it for me as I told them I needed to catch the ferry the following day. Well done Hotel Club; it was just what we needed. A short cab ride to the ferry or railway, we arrived on the Overlander train and the cab ride was under $20, even less to go to the ferry next day. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Dining room was a bit dated, room was good albeit it being an access room for people with disabilities, parking was limited but free.

For us the location was good(close to the Westpac Stadium), we could leave our car undercover for a small cost and we where provided with a late check out.The cost of our stay was very reasonable

The three of us found Kingsgate Hotel, Wellington suited our needs splendidly. It was ideally situated for a short walk to the city centre, bus and rail station, a tour of Parliament, the local supermarket and several restaurants and bars. The staff were friendly and courteous at all times and our rooms were excellent. Our dinner on the one night we dined in was superb. We would definitely stay here again and would highly recommend it to others.

Just stayed one night and the room although small was okay. Had breakfast which was well presented, but dinner could have been a bit better. Check in and check out staff were very helpful and efficient, and waitresses and waiters were very good too.

Friendly helpful staff at front desk, nice and handy to city- 10 min walk. Room small but perfectly adequate. Would definitely stay here again.

The Hotel is ideally situated for attending events at the Westpac Stadium. The staff were very good and helpful and the facilities were also good. The only thing letting it down really are the rooms, which are quite noisy and the furnishings are less than average.

This motel needs a refit ...urgently. The room we had was old & dated. The staff were very obliging.

Short stay , great value , and able to park my vehicle, whereas other hotels tend to charge extra for that

Excellent value for money. The hotel is situated just a short walk from Parliament and the National Library, and about 10 minutes from the city centre. It is quiet and unpretentious, has wi-fi and satellite TV in every room, and a good, though rather pricey, restaurant. There's a big New World supermarket and bottle shop, open until 11pm every day, just five minutes walk away. I shall certainly stay there again.

Great location, easy walk to Parliament and downtown. Free parking very welcome. Rooms small but adequate.

The rooms are on the small side, and the equipment adequate rather than exciting. However, the beds are comfortable, car-parking free, wi-fi access is, for once, reasonably priced, and the staff make every effort to be helpful. Breakfasts are rather ordinary and quite expensive (try a local cafe - there are several options within a couple of hundred metres). The evening meals are more imaginative, although good options are also to be found within easy walking distance. This a good solution for the business (or leisure) traveller on a budget.

We found the staff were great and the hotel also good. The location was excellent for what we were there for. The cleaning crew were excellent

Meals of a very good standard and reasonably priced. I think this hotel is good value at the price I paid.
