Kyoto Royal Hotel & Spa Guest Reviews

4 out of 5

Located very close to a major subway station. Easy walk to pontocho and gion areas. Room bigger and nicer than usual. Daytime staff are great, nighttime staff are unhelpful bordering on rude. When I asked about restaurant suggestions, I was told to go outside and walk around until I found one.

Bus ride from the railway station, but that was easy enough.See tourist office at station first for advice. Can't say enough about the staff, super helpful at all times. room Adequate, kettle, hairdryer etc,the basics, but take your own coffee, only 2 teabags given for 2 days stay. Pillows like rocks. Aircon...only Hi/med/low temp already set and was too warm for me. I had to open the window at night for cooler air..bit concerned what that might be like in Summer. Was clean, and concierge staff incredibly helpful from storing bags to train, bus, subway directions, booking tours etc. with maps/stamps etc. I would stay there again, but think twice if in Summer. However, that said, I was there in Autumn, 10min walk to Gion area and shops, bus stop outside, everything pretty handy. Restaurant was ok too...and as I said, fantastic staff.

Really nice hotel in great location close to shopping districts and train stations- can be tricky though by train from JR Kyoto. But the hotel was nice, clean and modern with friendly staff who assisted us with directions and luggage services. Good central location to visit the sites from.

A lovely place to stay, clean and well kept. We had a twin room and there was a wonderful bath! Also, the bar down stairs has a nightly happy hour. the only issue was poor LAN connection,

Location of the hotel is very good. Size of the standard room is not too bad lbut the bath room is really too small and the washing basin is too low.

Hotel is only a min's walk from subway and only a few stops from Kyoto subway. The last min deal was great for the size of room compared with the same price I paid for those in Nagoya and Tokyo. Convenient stores are located nearby and one japanese eatery (payment via vending machine) serves delicious katsudon (fried pork cutlet, egg, condiments & rice.

very clean, very good location, one of the cheapest hotels i found in Kyoto, 2 minutes from a JR Line Station, very good service, better than average sized rooms. I would definitely stay here again.

Perfect location for tourists. Buses for most of the famous historical sightseeing spots leave in front of the hotel. JPY8000 for a single room per night at a 4-star hotel including free internet access is a very good deal.

I found the service and value to be excellent. We subsequently booked in off the street and did not get nearly as good a deal as we had with [website] but still it was a great location and really helpful staff.

We booked this hotel for one night because it had a 24 hour reception and it was reasonably priced (12,000 yen) for a twin room compared to other Western-styled hotels (we flew into Kansai Airport in the early evening and took the Haraku Limited Express, then subway, to this hotel, a journey of some 2 hours). Hotel staff very helpful – assisted us to call airline about a jacket left behind on the plane, and gave clear information on how to get around Kyoto. Room adequate sized for a night; we chose to stay at a number of ryokans for the rest of our journey in tatami-mat rooms. Buckwheat filled pillows were a nice touch, but the cigarette smoke in the corridors was bad, even though I requested for a non-smoking room, or for a non-smoking floor. The room had some smoke too, but didn’t bother me enough to get a good night’s sleep. Location great! Had two computers in the lobby with internet access but were very slow, running Windows 2000 – oops!

A good hotel in a fantastic location where you can walk to many if not most sights in Kyoto, or the subway is very closeby for those sites a little further out. Everything is within easy reach eg: restaurants, mini-supermarkets, food markets and of course general shopping. Didn't use the hotel restaurant as it wasn't necessary but it must be good as it always had lots of clients there. I would thoroughly recommend this hotel for all aspects.

A good hotel to stay in as it puts you in the centre of Kyoto. Room prices are very fair for a hotel of this class Other prices however (Bar etc) are very high and not worth the money. Try the local bars and restuarants close by for better value. Overall a fine hotel with highly efficient and friendly staff. A definite choice if I return to Kyoto.

The location is slightly more difficult to access from Kyoto Station. Only small flaw. Otherwise the hotel is excellent. Situated right in the middle of the Kyoto city, excellent shopping and eating facilities around the hotel. The staff are especially helpful, polite and courteous. Room was very clean and well furnished. I strongly recommend this hotel to tourists. I certainly look forward to my next trip to this historical city.
