Convenient location. Walking distance to most places. Great 130yen sushi train shop only 3mins walk away and other eateries and shopping. Nishiki market close by too. Wifi in lobby was not too good - kept crashing and needed to move in different places to get coverage. Staff say its the network system but seems to have been like this for a while reading the previous reviews so they really should rectify this issue as it would boost up their ratings for sure! Would definitely stay in a heartbeat next time if this was rectified.
adequate sized hotel... free wifi available in the lobby... housekeeping is up to standard. Quite a few buses from Kyoto station to the hotel.
For the price I paid for the two nights at Kyoto Royal Hotel, which was even below the normal price of a 3-star hotel, the room I was given was certainly way into the 4-Star category ! Reasonably large, cosily and aesthetically appointed, woody and warm in colours, we had a twin-bedded room on the 9th Floor. Didnt have time to visit the Spa, which, I was told, closes at 8pm daily. Which is too early -- for guests who have busy and long working days while staying there. Hotel location is perfect. Hardly 5 minutes away are lots of shopping and food shops. Also very nearby are several "shopping alleys" that are almost half a mile long for each one of them! I will most definitely return to Kyoto Royal again in my next few visits ( next year itself, I will likely be in Kyoto at least 5 to 6 times)
Great price for this hotel. It's located right near a giant mall. Outside the hotel are bus stops that can take to all of the tourist attractions. Free wifi in lobby, free wired in the room. Breakfast seems a bit on the pricey side. Walk outside the hotel and there are loads of cheaper options.
Since we went to the hotel by public transport, it's not as easy for us to locate the exact entrance especially when we were there near dinner time. However, we were satisfied with the hotel staff, friendly and helpful, the hotel's location. The room rate is really a good bargain cos the hotel had offered us a room with a sitting area. What we think the hotel needs to improve is the lighting in the room, it's too dim.
Located very close to a major subway station. Easy walk to pontocho and gion areas. Room bigger and nicer than usual. Daytime staff are great, nighttime staff are unhelpful bordering on rude. When I asked about restaurant suggestions, I was told to go outside and walk around until I found one.
Bus ride from the railway station, but that was easy enough.See tourist office at station first for advice. Can't say enough about the staff, super helpful at all times. room Adequate, kettle, hairdryer etc,the basics, but take your own coffee, only 2 teabags given for 2 days stay. Pillows like rocks. Aircon...only Hi/med/low temp already set and was too warm for me. I had to open the window at night for cooler air..bit concerned what that might be like in Summer. Was clean, and concierge staff incredibly helpful from storing bags to train, bus, subway directions, booking tours etc. with maps/stamps etc. I would stay there again, but think twice if in Summer. However, that said, I was there in Autumn, 10min walk to Gion area and shops, bus stop outside, everything pretty handy. Restaurant was ok too...and as I said, fantastic staff.
Really nice hotel in great location close to shopping districts and train stations- can be tricky though by train from JR Kyoto. But the hotel was nice, clean and modern with friendly staff who assisted us with directions and luggage services. Good central location to visit the sites from.
spacious room especially for a family
A lovely place to stay, clean and well kept. We had a twin room and there was a wonderful bath! Also, the bar down stairs has a nightly happy hour. the only issue was poor LAN connection,
Location of the hotel is very good. Size of the standard room is not too bad lbut the bath room is really too small and the washing basin is too low.
Chère comme tous les hôtels au Japon. Personnels très compétents.
very nice hotel. the buffet is always worth a look!
Hotel is only a min's walk from subway and only a few stops from Kyoto subway. The last min deal was great for the size of room compared with the same price I paid for those in Nagoya and Tokyo. Convenient stores are located nearby and one japanese eatery (payment via vending machine) serves delicious katsudon (fried pork cutlet, egg, condiments & rice.
very clean, very good location, one of the cheapest hotels i found in Kyoto, 2 minutes from a JR Line Station, very good service, better than average sized rooms. I would definitely stay here again.
Perfect location for tourists. Buses for most of the famous historical sightseeing spots leave in front of the hotel. JPY8000 for a single room per night at a 4-star hotel including free internet access is a very good deal.
I found the service and value to be excellent. We subsequently booked in off the street and did not get nearly as good a deal as we had with [website] but still it was a great location and really helpful staff.
A very pleasant and well located hotel in central Kyoto
We booked this hotel for one night because it had a 24 hour reception and it was reasonably priced (12,000 yen) for a twin room compared to other Western-styled hotels (we flew into Kansai Airport in the early evening and took the Haraku Limited Express, then subway, to this hotel, a journey of some 2 hours). Hotel staff very helpful – assisted us to call airline about a jacket left behind on the plane, and gave clear information on how to get around Kyoto. Room adequate sized for a night; we chose to stay at a number of ryokans for the rest of our journey in tatami-mat rooms. Buckwheat filled pillows were a nice touch, but the cigarette smoke in the corridors was bad, even though I requested for a non-smoking room, or for a non-smoking floor. The room had some smoke too, but didn’t bother me enough to get a good night’s sleep. Location great! Had two computers in the lobby with internet access but were very slow, running Windows 2000 – oops!
A good hotel in a fantastic location where you can walk to many if not most sights in Kyoto, or the subway is very closeby for those sites a little further out. Everything is within easy reach eg: restaurants, mini-supermarkets, food markets and of course general shopping. Didn't use the hotel restaurant as it wasn't necessary but it must be good as it always had lots of clients there. I would thoroughly recommend this hotel for all aspects.
