Via della Lecceta, 5 - 57128 Montenero (Livorno) Tuscany.
The Hotel La Vedetta, on the hills that embrace Livorno, directly faces one of the most suggestive landscape of the Etruscan Cost. The villa built at the end of XVIII century and was inhabited by Baron Herman De Schubart, who was the Danish King’s Minister. He called the villa “La Vedetta” (that means look-out tower) for the beautiful landscape one can admire from its terrace. Together with the hotel other villas were built on the declivity of Montenero gazing upon the spectacle that takes one’s breath away. Byron and Shelley were enchanted by the position of Montenero and spent here few years of their lives. The strategic position, the qualified and expert staff, the comfort of the furniture, the good cooking, the modern congress room make the villa ideal destination both for business men and tourists looking for an exclusive and refined environment. In each room of the Hotel our clients can enjoy individually controlling air conditioning, private bathroom, colour TV, minibar, direct dial telephone, hairdryer, modem and fax facilities.

Nice hotel, long way from the beach up a steep hill but very close to the sanctuary of the Madonna (or whatever it is) in Montenero. Top priced rooms may have too much view obscured by trees but the views from my cheaper room were good value.
Pretty difficult to find, but well worth the effort. The views are stupendous. Also note that when trying to find this place, simply follow signs for Montenerro, then once there, you will see signs for La Vedetta. The hotel name is not on the gateposts at the foot of the drive, so it is important to look for the number '5'.

The hotel was quite a distance from the town centre and taxis did not run after 11 p.m. so it was very difficult to return to the hotel late at night.
Hotel is in a small 'Sanctuary' town, with two restaurants and two bars within walking distance. In our two night stay, both bars closed at 8pm, one restaurant never opened and the other was only open one night. The next nearest restaurant was 1km away, down a 1 in 4 hill!! no good for walking back!! ,Taxiis didn't exist. Back at the Hotel couldn't get a drink as the kitchen was closed -8.30pm!! Apart from that, the staff were all pleasant and helpful, and hotel was good. An ideal stay for those that want quiet, teetotal seclusion. But if your holiday evening is spent in or around the town/village or a restaurant sampling the local 'flavours' this is not for you . Also it was miles from Pisa Town.
A superbly well-appointed hotel in the hills of Montechero. The hotel is superb, the location fantastic, although somewhat challenging to find. However, the effort is well rewarded. The staff were courteous, considerate and most helpful. The room was in immaculate condition and very comfortable. The facilities at the hotel are good; in particular there is a fine terrace overlooking the valley and a plentiful supply of furniture to use. The key area of disappointment was the restaurant. The food was average but pricey for what was supplied and the menu lacked imagination; had the food been of a higher standard the experience would have been second-to-none!
The hotel in itself is just as any other 3 star, maybe with the difference that the rooms are very newly renovated. What makes it special is the nice staff and the stunning view from the terrace. A bit difficult to find for those who don't speak italian and can ask for directions.
A bit hard to find, but located with a great view over the city of Locarno and the gulf. We will be back !
A quiet nice hotel with a great view over Livorno, the sea and the mountains. Great food for dinner - and cheap. You definitely need a car to get there and enjoy the surroundings.
