"The Lakeland Resort is a basic style of motel that delivers very good value for money. The rooms are big with both a double and a single bed configuration which would suit three people no problem. There was plenty of room for bags and bikes and the veranda style outside provided a good place for drying wetsuits. The bathroom was basic, the shower pressure unfortunately very poor, but all the other useful things like hairdryer and iron were there. The motel is set slightly back off the main road which is a distinct advantage as traffic can often be heard in other motels we've stayed in in Taupo. It's a little out from the town about 4km but the walk is lovely. We didn't use the pool or the tennis courts but they're there and clean." - Anonymous
"Good accomodation close to lake taupo but not in walking distance of the town centre.Freindly helpful staff." - GEORGE MOATE
"Staff were friendly and helpful, and the main reception/restaurant area looked nice. The room was a bit average however, not quite 'renovated' as suggested on the website - the bathroom had had a new square porcelain basin installed in the old bench-top and the toilet suite had been upgraded, and there was a large, new flat-screen TV in the lounge/bedrom, but that was it. The shower was terrible - akin to standing under a lawn sprinkler. The standard of room was not commensurate to either the sweeping driveway and grand covered portico, nor the use of 'resort' in the hotel's name. The location was ok, no views of the lake from our room, and just out of town but not too far. Would probably stay there again if I got the room at the right price." - Anonymous
"Located a little way out of town but right on the edge of the lake. The hotel offers dinner (2 courses) on a buy 1 get the other 50% off. The meals were great and the staff were very friendly." - Kate Greeney
