This family run Guest House is located in Ambleside, in the heart of the Lake District and offers free parking, WiFi and almost fifty dining options within a five minute walk. Lakes Lodge offers you modern facilities usually found only in larger hotels but in a relaxed atmosphere, the best of both worlds! Just a short walk takes you to Waterhead Bay and the lake steamers to Bowness and Lakeside and a chance to explore. Ambleside is a perfect starting point for mountain biking or walking. All of the accommodation is en-suite and there are a choice of bedrooms available, most offering views of Ambleside town and its surroundings. A complimentary tray, TV and DVD are provided along with a library of DVD's to choose from. Unlike many B&B's the lodge is licensed and offers a wine and beer room service throughout the day. Please note this hotel is completely non-smoking. If guests smoke in the bedrooms a charge of up to 1 night accommodation may apply.

Had a very pleasant stay recently. The rooms are a good size with a rather spacious bathroom. Staff are lovely and very helpful. Superb location. Only concern is the size and awkwardness of the car park, though this isn't really of any fault on the hotel's part.
Nice clean rooms. However did not really feel upto standard for a 4*. I was dissapointed with the location, on Lakes Lodge main website it shows Lakes Lodge as being on the verge of a Lake but infact it was about a 5minute walk....
Excellent hotel, only downside was the haphazard design of the carpark bays which resulted in us being blocked in. 4/5. Would definitely recommend.
Very efficiently run, clean and friendly hotel, lovely breakfast, free internet and parking. Fire door on first floor automatically closed with a slam, most guests not considerate or alert enough to assist it to close quietly, so it needs to be adjusted. Recommended.
The continental breakfast was more than adequate but we would have liked a different choice of cold meats. Parking was a little cramped, with a steep slope and (potentially) a difficult turning but at least it was there!
This small hotel is ideally situated for a visit to Ambleside. When we stayed at the beginning of August 2006 it was very clean and comfortable. The continental breakfast was buffet style and comprised a variety of fruit juices, cereals, cold meats, cheese, fresh and tinned fruit, a variety of pastries, toast, tea, coffee and hot chocolate. Breakfast could be taken to your bedroom if you wished.
