Larnach Lodge At Larnach Castle Dunedin Guest Reviews

Wonderfull service and such a lovely place to stay.I will return after I have spread the word and bring new guests with me.Unique and a must do for the young and old.

Lanarch Castle was an amazing experience although we were in the Goldrush Room with a wagon for a bed. Under normal circumstances this would have been quite a novelty but was difficult with a fractured arm (staff did try to move us but didn't have another room). Banquet dinner in the castle was wonderful and the breakfasts were great.

Premium room (Queen Victoria). Fun venue- must join in one Banquet Evening- great banter. Value fair as it includes entrance to “castle” and grounds. Good breakfasts. Don’t expect your room to be in the actual castle though- more motel style with added character in lodge or even the stables.

The views off the balcony were unbelievable! Staff very helpful, lovely bathroom and nice room although bed was extremely squeaky. Dinner in the castle with other guests (an extra) is worth it, food great and nice to meet other guests. Road very windy up to the castle but worth it for the views. Would recommend.

Wonderful place and excellent service. Didn't like the drive to it, narrow, clifftop road. Has to be a special occasion to go there because not a cheap place to stay.

Magnificient location above Dunedin harbour commanding a sweeping view of the watertways and surrounds. Dinner is highly recommended particularly if wishing to know more about the history of the castle. Lodge accommodation is excellent and very restful. Tour of castle and gardens is also highly recommended. A photographer's dream. A MUST stay and experience in any tour of the South Island.

The Lodge adjacent to the castle is a wonderful place for 'quirky' accommodation, staying in one of the 'themed' rooms. (We stayed in the 'Gold Rush', with a huge bed fashioned out of a wagon -- complete with wheels and driver's seat!) We had dinner in the castle's dining room with other lodge guests; I'd definitely recommend doing this, if only for the experience of being in the castle at night (and the food was great, too).

Worth it for the view from the bedroom. The meal was quite good but not the best we ate in NZ. Eating in the castle dining room was definitely a great experience.

This was one of the biggest highlights in our whole trip. I highly recommend it! One night was not enough, there is so much we didn't see. All the staff were spectacularly helpful too. Thank you!
