Best 3 star accommodation in Launceston for the price; clean rooms, comfortable beds, basic amenities. Only a couple of blocks walk to CBD. Restaurant on site (not visited). Friendly, helpful staff.
Handy for the river and cataract gorge. Busy road but not a problem. Breakfast (separate business) was good. Room pleasant enough though annoying to keep banging our heads on a low, pretend oil-lamp (with a compact fluorescent globe).
This hotel is a rustic place well situated near the fabulous Ctaract Gorge and easy walking distance to City Centre. The staff were friendly and efficient. The room was spacious and well set up. I would definitely stay there again.
Lovely hotel with lots of character and old world appearance from the outside but modern and well-appointed inside. Very comfortable beds and warm and cosy room! The hotel was a short walk from Cataract Gorge and Stillwater Restaurant and while about a 15 minute walk to the City centre it was a relatively easy walk. Highly recommend the Leisure Inn Penny Royal Hotel & Apartments and we will definitely stay here again (soon I hope!). Highly recommend Stillwater Restaurant too.
Nice comfotable clean rooms with old world charm. Quiet location. 10 mins walk from city centre and 10 mins from Cataract Gorge.
Great value for money.
Lovely clean, comfortable beds, hot showers, great location. Would stay there again.
Staff were extremely helpful when we arrived to find that the Hotel Club booking had not been forwarded to them - they upgraded us to a two bedroom apartment. They also provided good advice on places to eat and things to do on our short visit. The Cataract Gorge is a must do and is very close to the Leisure Inn; the town is also within easy walking distance. We have booked to stay there again on our last night before leaving Tasmania and are happy to recommend this hotel to other travelers.
Excellent accomodation. Close to the CBD and lovely areas to walk around. Parks just accross the road. Meals 1st class and excellent service provided by Lyn at reception and at the restaurant also
neat and clean more for the professional person wanting a bed for the night
I had stayed previously in one of the apartments, so when it came to booking a room in Launceston, the Penny Royal was my first choice. This time we stayed in a suite on the top floor. Even though it was a bit hard getting up the steps the room more than made up for it. Stacks of room, comfy beds and even fresh milk for our tea! what more could I ask for? I will be back......
The rooms have been updated nicely with good firm beds and nice sheets. Very clean and quite spacious rooms were very cold and the small wall heater couldn't get the room warm even through we left it on all night. Fortunately there were electric blankets on the bed. Old CRT TV's could do with an update as well as the TV reception.
excellent service, great meal at restaurant. Rooms well situated and would definitely stay at this location again
Overall good except service is nothing more than checking you in & out!
Bathrooms are in need of a heater and an extractor fan
It's very close to the gorge. The room is very nice and clean. The only thing is that the heater is not so warm.
Quaint rooms tho a bit dark and could be noisy with people checking in at midnight! Enough hot water pressure to ensure enjoyable shower. Great food in pub.
A wonderful place to stay which brings you the history of 18th century architecture. Cosy environment. Hospitable staffs. Great location, a walking distance to Cataract Gorge and the town. I will definitely promote this hotel to my friends.
no free wi-fi (this is a major problem of most Australian and New Zealand hotels at the moment), but clean rooms, very stylish, close to the city centre, would definitely stay there again
I booked a twin room/apartment arrived to find double bed. Had to wait 3/4 of an hour for manager to arrive to sort out a new room (v small room and v noisy neghbours at 3 am. Toilet was leaking water from connection informed management not fixed for the 3 nights we were there. But the food was good in the Tavern.
