The waves wash ashore at its feet, the ocean is the only horizon, and La Rochelles historic port is its neighbour. You have front row seats to natures most fascinating shows from morning to night: the Atlantic Ocean in all its colourful splendour! The atmosphere of a cruise ship permeates the hotel, from the hold to the fifth deck, and including the decoration of the rooms with balcony. In good weather, the walkway is equipped to take full advantage of the sun.

Getting there:From the train station take direction "Vieux Port". Once you are there take direction "Parcs-Plage-Casino". At the very top of the avenue du Mail make a left, then first on your right and fellow hotel signs. From the rocade direction Ile de Re, take exit "Port Neuf "-" Chef de Baie". Cross the city of Port Neuf until the ocean where the hotel is located.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Les Brises. The view out to sea is fabulous. The room was excellent and the balcony was a great addition. Breakfast was delicious with plenty of choice and the linen tablecloths add a little extra. The walk into the centre was very pleasant and not too long.
No tea or coffee making facilities in the room. For this reason it is a bit over-priced. This hotel is about 15 min walk to the old port and city and even longer to the railway station. There is a bus service that goes past the hotel but it's last run is around 7pm and meals are not generally serviced before 6:30pm in the restaurants in town. Free WiFi in the room.

If ever you get to La Rochelle I highly recommend both the town and this Hotel. The location overlooking the bay and out to the Atlantic is spectacular. The fortifications and the old town are steeped in history. I read a review on the Hotel which complained that it was a 20 minute walk from the town. It's more like a pleasant 15 minute stroll along a waterfront pathway surrounded by well kept attractive gardens. There are a multitude of bars and restaurants within the town and on the quays.

To appreciate the position of the hotel you must book a room with a sea view and balcony. Only breakfast available but within walking distance (20 mins) of La Rochelle centre. Free underground parking a bonus as parking in La Rochelle a nightmare!
Room was clean and comfortable. Located in a nice quiet area of town. Staff were friendly.
Our expectations were pretty low after reading a mixture of reviews. But we were extremely happy with this hotel, and the beautiful city of La Rochelle. We had a gorgeous view from our balcony over the water, watching the sail boats race around in the bright winters sun.
It's lovely to wake up and retire with a sea view on your own balcony just listening to the sea.
