Generally the hotel is good and in a very convenience location, easily excess to shopping (beijing road) and restaurants. A bit far from metro and very noisy and dusty outside the hotel because of the construction works carry out just right infront of the Lido Hotel.
Hotel is okay, except there is no swimming pool and no safety box in the room, and this is nightmare, as a result, I have to carry my passport to whereever I go.

Considering its very good location, yes, I would like to come back to this hotel again on my next visit to Guangzhou. It's only within walking distance to do shopping. It's better to stay on top floor, said to be better compared to those at lower floor.
Very good location. But the customer service have not good information for the Guangzhou Tourism. All of crew can not help me for the information guide.
We stayed in the hotel from 18-23Sep08 and subsequently extended to 26Sep08 due to the typhoon. The location of the hotel is very convenience as it is within short walking distance to the Peking Road Walking Mall and is franked by McDonald and Tai Ka Lok Fast Food outlet on both sides of the hotel. Services are good and staff are courteous. I will stay in the same hotel on my next trip to Guangzhou.
The hotel is next to Beijing Road, one of the main shopping area in Guangzhou, so if you are there for shopping, this hotel is highly recommended. Lots of eateries nearby as well. Hotel room is clean and spacious, however, there was no fridge or safe. Hotel staff are friendly but hotel does not provide a tourist guide for Guangzhou. However, most of the staff are able to advise on where to go if you check with them.
This is my 2nd time that I stayed at the Lido for my Guangzhou trips and certainly not my last. I like the cleanliness, friendliness and attentiveness of the reception staff and nice location for shopping and food. The Tim Sum restuarant offered reasonably priced and delicious choice of food in nice ambience. I find it very much at home as the staff there are rather obliging in guiding me on matters such as public transport, road directions to places of interest and local customs....could be due to no language barrier for our conversation in Mandarin and Cantonese. In short, it is real value for money and I hope the room rates can be maintained in time to come.
We had very few expectations of this hotel as we read previous bad reviews, however, we found the check in and check out process efficient and the front desk staff spoke English. The location was excellent for late night shopping as it was next to a pedestrianised shopping area with Malls which closed at 10pm. We booked a triple executive room which in reality was a double room with a roll away bed. Beware ! mattresses in China are hard but these were less so than our hotel in Foshan. When we asked for extra towels and tissues, they were provided without delay. The breakfast was basic but acceptable and inexpensive. Our lack of expectations meant we were pleasantly surprised. The room was clean and quiet but somewhat small. There was a kettle with the facilities to make tea along with bottled water. Unfortunatley there was no safe in the room. The location of this hotel is its greatest asset and we would use it again for this reason alone. A good practical budget hotel.
Mid-range hotel with strange service.
The hotel was good enough in term of location and pricing. The receptionist is very helpful and know how to give the right directions even though cannot speak well.
Convenient location, took us about 7 minutes to get to GongYuanQian metro station. Located at the heart of Beijing Road, a shopping street. Good restaurant located at hotel, called Jun Hao. However, hotel beds were very hard and uncomfortable. Rooms looked very run down, desperately needs some minor makeover! Front desk can understand English, but they avoid speaking it.
The location is right in the commercial area with lots of foods, shopping and very near to the subway. Don't expect too much from their service. We tried to ask for direction and how far from the hotel. The staff is unwilling to inform us any info and we were told to just hail a cab outside the hotel. Our suggestion, ask the subway staff instead of the hotel staff.
Good location in the middle of a shopping street. Walking distance to the river (15-20 min). Basic english skills.
The problem with China Hotel is the lack of information in the form of city Map or brochues on the city and place of interest to visit or shopped.
The hotel is located in a nice pedestrian shopping area, however it is far from the subway station. Restaurants and fast foods are located nearby. Overall it is ok :)
Lido is preferred as it is located in Beijing Lu St and a stone's throw away from the pedestrian shopping plaza. Good restaurants in close proximity are an added advantage. The travel desk in Lido is well versed and efficient . It wil be Lido next time too.
Excellent location. However, the cleanliness leaves a lot to be desired. If you can't bare with dirty carpets, don't stay at this hotel. If convenience to restaurants and shopping is your priority, then this is the hotel for you.
The location is very convenient for shoppers. The room was ok if you're on a tight budget. The receptionists are ok with their English. The lobby, however, usually smell bad.
Conveniently located in the city centre. A bit scruffy but otherwise OK for the price.
Well located hotel for shopping and dining out. Quite expensive during trade shows otherwise ok value for money. Really needs renovation as decor is tired looking.
