Locanda Gaudemus Sistiana 57 (Trieste)
Our small but accurate hotel, (we have 11 rooms, all with bathroom, satellite-TV, phone) is located in the charming scenery of the Sistiana bay, since the beginning of the century the destination of the Austrian aristocracy who used to spend the summer and autumn months combining baths in the sea with baths in the nearby Roman thermal waters of Monfalcone. It is the ideal place where to spend a quiet and peaceful stay nearby the seaside and, at the same time, spending your time in a beautiful European city such as Trieste. In the vicinity you’ll find the Duino Castle, the Miramare Castle. The restaurant of the hotel, winner of many prizes, is the perfect place where to dine and spend a beautiful night.

Getting there:From Venice or the airport: highway exit "Duino" and then turn left following for Trieste. After 1.5 km you are in Sistiana and on your left you'll find the "Locanda".

This was a lovely traditional hotel outside of Trieste, unfortunately on a busy road. Saved by new double windows. Some new design details that were not evident everywhere. A generational split - mother and son. The son, a recognized gourmet chef, runs the restaurant. He was unfortunately away at a cooking competition during our stay. There were several acceptable restaurants in the area otherwise one needs a car. My partner speaks Italian an asset. We prefer non corporate hotels and this hotel filled the bill. Lovely starched linens.
Hostess excellent and very friendly.
The hotel is located about 12 kilometers north of Trieste, on the main highway which runs along the Adriatic coast. The owner and his mother were extremely friendly. We ordered a tasting menu at the wine restaurant, which featured local seafood. All of the courses were creative and delicious. The room was not spectacular, but clean and comfortable.
