Locanda Ovidius Hotel Venice

A really well located hotel, with some rooms overlooking Rialto bridge. Really good rooms, beautifully furnished and generously sized. No restaurant, and fairly basic breakfast. Good service from friendly staff. We would certainly go back.

The smallest room on our Europe Tour, but also the most expensive. Not all rooms have a canal view. On arrival your passport is taken for validation with the Police. Wasn't comfortable with the practice, but aparently standard practice in Venice hotels..? We were provided a set of rules (in French which I don't understand), almost hostel like and treating you like a child. You have to sign it. Otherwise a pleasant experience.

This hotel is very centrally located, about 100 yards from the Rialto Bridge. There are only 20 rooms, which are small but nice. The bathrooms are nice, but as is normal in Europe, just a hand shower. Breakfast was a typical meats/cheese/bread with coffee. The staff is very helpful and speak communicative english. There is an elevator. Also an internet access computer (minimal charge). Most rooms face into the alley, the ones that overlook the canal cost extra, but you really don't need that, since you won't spend much time there anyway. There are two nice sitting rooms with a balcony where we spent an hour one afternoon sipping wine and eating cheese watching the canal traffic and the Rialto bridge. We would definitely stay here again. Price seemed a little high, but everything in Venice is expensive.

Friendly service located centrally in Venice. Well decorated in Ventian style. Rooms are not large (space at a premium in Venice) and bathroom had a bath rather than a shower. No restaurant or bar, but good breakfast area and small sitting room both overlooking Grand Canal.

Fantastic location a few metres from the Rialto bridge. Very quiet considering the proximity to a busy part of the Grand Canal. Having a jacuzzi bath in the room was a joy especially after a long day of walking.

We found this a friendly conveniently placed hotel room 205 was a good size, had a BATH and plenty of hot water, this room has no view but does not matter more importantly it was quiet at night as down a side street.

A charming hotel located on the Grand Canal near the Rialto Bridge. Convenient, clean, helpful staff and nicely appointed rooms and baths. It was a wonderful experience. I was travelling with friends and would highly recommend Ovidius as a place to stay and a good value.

Stunning location made up for the small rooms that are usual in Italy. Very nice small family owned hotel, helpful staff, adequate breakfast, would certainly use it again.

We enjoyed our stay at the Locanda Ovidius Hotel. The room was small but very comfortable and clean. As you know when you arrive in Venice it can be very daunting finding your hotel. The location of this hotel on the Grand Canal made it very easy to find. The staff was very friendly and always willing to help. The breakfast was OK. Again the location of the hotel is excellent, you are in the middle of the city. I would use this hotel again.
