This imposing hotel, built in traditional Lakeland slate has had a commanding presence in the Borrowdale Valley for over 200 years. Standing in 40 acres of grounds with lake frontage and the dramatic backdrop of the spectacular Lodore Falls and surrounding mountains, this hotel has one of the finest settings in the Lake District, with access to some of the most impressive walks in the area from the front door. The majority of our 72 Fell and Lake View bedrooms have undergone a total refurbishment. They all offer hospitality tray, hairdryer, trouser press and colour TV (with SKY channels and playstation). Getting there:By Car: Leave the M6 at jct 40 at Penrith and turn onto the A66. Follow the A66 to Keswick then take the B5289 to Borrowdale, with the lake on the right. The hotel is on the left, 3 miles from Keswick. The nearest train station is Penrith.

Our holiday at the Lodore Falls was delightful. The location was wonderful, with the Lodore Falls behind and Lake Derwent in front, staff were friendly and helpful, and the dining experience was really very good! The bedroom was well appointed, spacious and comfortable, and the only small disappointment was the view of the flat roof and air-conditioning units outside our window despite having paid a supplement for fell-side views. However, that is being picky, and we would certainly stay there again and recommend it to our friends.
The hotel was in a beautiful location, and the room was great.
