Set in its own grounds, but only a few minutes walk from the town centre, Macdonald Alveston Manor is one of the finest bases from which to explore the area. The original hotel comprises a beautiful Tudor Building with many authentic features and the gardens boast an ancient cedar tree, where rumour has it the first performance of "a midsummer nights dream" was given.

Perfect staff Easy parking We had an excellent room, very quiet
Would have stayed at the Premier Inn if I had known the pool was going to be out of action. The only reason I booked this Hotel Also not really disabled accessable
Have used before and will use in the future
Don't know if we just were unlucky. Arrived on the Monday and on Wednesday afternoon had to ask for the bed to be changed as this still had not been done! Also had to request tissues in the bathroom as the box was empty but had not been refilled. Don't let this put you off though, as the hotel is very nice and is set in an ideal location a few minutes walk from the town centre. We didn't take breakfast at the hotel as it was way to expensive, but plenty of place in Stratford to eat.
staff very nice and accomadating
I discovered that I had made a mistake with our booking date, booking the previous night to the night we had wanted to stay. On realising my mistake on the morning of the correct date, I rang the hotel and explained the situation. The lady on reception was so helpful and kind, and honoured our booking (for two rooms) for the next night without any fee. We were extremely grateful with this excellent service.
The hotel is beautiful and in a great location. - you can leave your car and walk easily into town. The dining room is lovely and breakfast excellent. However, the price of drinks in the bar is VERY high. Lots of the staff are not English and there was a bit of a communication problem sometimes. With regard to the room, the only complaint we had was that the hot water is dangerously hot. You would need to be very careful if you were staying with young children.
Excellent hotel the only negative was the bar prices - £9.00 for a single brandy and a pint of lager.
Te reception staff are so helpful, nothing is too much trouble. The hotel rooms are comfortable and the situation of the hotel is very convenient for both walking into the town (5 mins) or driving into the countryside. I intend to continue using this hotel in preference to all others in Stratford upon Avon.
This hotel had a wonderful setting and was in a beautiful place. The front of house staff, such as on reception were very helpful and polite but the staff in the restaurant and bar were terrible. We were appauled at the service. It took half an hour to get served a drink and the pricing was different every time. It took us twenty minutes to pay for the bill in the restaurant. All the other guests were also un happy with the service
Excellent breakfast provided. Would recommend to others. Staff very courteous.
RSC Theatre at Stratford is too early to eat dinner beforehand, and no food is available in the hotel afterwards. (We were told, perhaps wrongly, that roomservice stopped at 9.30, like te restaurant.)
Excellent Hotel, superb position for visiting Stratford Upon Avon, takes just a few minutes to walk into the centre of town. The rooms are very comfortable and the public rooms have charm and an open fire brilliant for Dec. I will certainly stay at the Alveston manor again
hotel was absolutely fine. It is however always startling how expensive hotels are in the UK....
Poor/slow servivce at breakfast. Bar prices astonomical!
Breakfast service was poor and certainly not what should be expected at the price charged
Dinner did not cater very well for vegatarians and there was a lack of staff at breakfast.
When we arrived there was no room for us as the online agent had had trouble with its site - so we were told. Offered an upgraded room 20 mins away which was not suitable.
We were already aware that most of the rooms were contained within new blocks behind the old hotel so were pleasantly surprised to be given a lovely room in the older part. Everything worked as it was supposed to. Nice big swimming pool. Certainly one of the better hotels we have stayed in. Location could not be better.
Excellent location for visiting Stratford-upon-Avon. Very pleasant stay of a very good standard.
