The hotel was very clean and the staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel is in walking distance of Princes Street, the main shopping Street in the City Centre. I would happily stay here again.
Great location, lovely Hotel. The rooms were very clean. The only downfall with the hotel was the fact that there were Christmas parties on in the hotel on the saturday night and we could hear the music/disco. would be better to put guests not going to parties in rooms furthest away from functions rooms.
We stayed in this hotel for almost a week during a trip to Ediburgh for a wedding. It was within walking distance of the sites we wanted to see and many restaurants. The room was spacious, the bed very comfortable, and the price was very reasonable. The only improvements I would suggest are brighter reading lamps on the bedside tables and drawers (not just a closet) for clothes. I would happily stay in this hotel again.
we had a lovely stay, rooms were comfortable and clean. Food delicious but the service was a little slow and between four of us we never quite got what we ordered...but the staff were very pleasant and tried hard to get it right! Would stay again
Great for a long weekend away. Close to everything we needed
Central to all the sites in Edinburgh this hotel is perfect for a weekend break as no car is required. Staff were generally helpful and friendly. The room was a good size and very comfortable without the frills.
Location was central to all points in Edinburgh and easily accessible to bus and trains. Staff was friendly and accommodating and the room was very comfortable. I would stay here again
Good service, friendly, helpful staff. One bad note - bathroom had mould on the tiles and was quite smelly.
An exceptional experience on my first visit to Edinburgh in 40 years. I would unreservedly recommend to anyone who sets store by quality and attentiveness from the moment one steps out of the taxi.
Wonderful city and hotel experiences. Fine people and great happenings.
We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights, each night was perfect. The room was very clean and the bed was very comfortable, air con in the room was a added bonus. The staff were very helpful throughout our stay, especially when needing a late night pharmacy. Location was awesome with nearby bars and restaurants. The only little glitch was the temperature of the shower was very temperamental, although this may have only been our room. But overall we would recommend this hotel to anyone and will definitely stay there again!
Great hotel in the heart of the city, just about close to everything from City Centre and a walking distance to Edinburgh Castle.
We stayed at the Roxburghe on 3 separate nights during our 2-week British vacation; so we experienced 3 different rooms. All rooms were great; but those in the older part were nicer--lots of character. Scottish breakfast buffet in the restaurant was excellent. Staff went out of their way to make our stay memorable. Great location in New Town near Princess St. for shopping and dining. Good access to taxis, Waverly & Haymarket train stations & bus lines. We cannot praise the Roxburghe enough!
Great location. Easy walk to the Royal Mile. Breakfast was a bit expensive but excellent - even supplied gluten free! Room was a nice size and beds comfortable. Hot water in the shower was a problem so we had a lovely bath instead. We had a quiet room overlooking the courtyard.
Overall, a pleasant stay - but loud music from a private party on Saturday night woke us at 12.30, and when we queried it with the duty night manager, we were told it would finish at 1am anyway...NOT the answer we expected. Generally, staff were 'efficient' but cold. The exception was thecatering and bar staff who were friendlier - and even busier - and much more professional.
great hotel, great price, its worth every penny.
We totally enjoyed our stay at the Macdonald Roxburgh Hotel, everything was as one would expect from a 4 star Hotel and more.
Nice Hotel, good location, friendly staff
Very nice clean hotel. Staff are pleasent and helpful. Room service and restaurant is too expensive to eat from (breakfast alone is £13.50 each!) Arrived at hotel to find out that the car park was full and that you should book a space in advance (which I was unaware of) AND it was £19 a night to park there! I had no idea that I had to pay to park in their car park anyway, surely that should be included in the expensive price of staying there! Staff were helpful in directing me to another car park (which was a 5 minute walk from the hotel) and offered a 15% discount. As it turned out, the car park we were directed to was FREE on Sundays so we only ended up paying to park for 1 night (so by not parking at the hotel we saved £22!). Overall the hotel is lovely, clean and centrally located. I would probably opt to stay in a cheaper hotel if I travelled to Edinburgh again but would definitely stay here again as a "treat".
We really enjoyed our stay. Your staff couldn't have been more helpful or attentive, the food was excellent and, the room had everything we needed. A very well run hotel. Many thanks.
