Welcome to Mai Pen Rai Bungalows, situated on the East Coast of Koh Phangan, away from all the hustle and bustle of the full moon party, set amidst swaying palms, and a spectacular back drop of lush jungle and famous waterfalls. Here the emphasis is on keeping in touch with the roots of nature, and this is seen in the design of the very original bungalows, set directly on the beach, and on the rocks, with spectacular seaviews. Mai Pen Rai consists of 50 bungalows, with a choice of rooms on the river, beach, rocks, and family bungalows on the rocks and on the river.

Getting there:
Please get yourself to Koh Phangan, to Thong Sala town, using the many different ferry systems, Lomprayah and Seatran from Samui, and Raja from Surat Thani. Most tickets are sold jointly with boat included. Once in Thong Sala:- 4 x 4 taxi car departs from Thong Sala pier daily at 1.00. Contact Mister Wat at "Teeps Than Sadet Travel" beside the Yellow Cafe at the pier. The road to Than Sadet passes through dense jungle and a steep mountain pass – according to the season, the condition of the road varies. The road in its various seasons always provides a source of wonder and adventure to all who use it ! Taxi fare - 200 Baht one way. If you arrive after the 1.00 taxi time, please phone on 0818945076, and we can organize private pick up transfer for you, at the cost of 800 Baht for the car.

Children are welcome at Mai Pen Rai. If an extra bed or baby cot is required, 100 Baht extra per night is charged.

River Bungalows

For those seeking a little more solitude these are perfect to be slightly removed from the beach, but not too far away. They have been recently renovated, and are very comfortable with more space than before. These are popular amongst the long stay travellers. Bungalows on the River are situated in the garden with beautiful views onto the river. More are strewn on the other side of the river with views directly onto the river, and the Sea. These bungalows are creatively designed with a large second floor verandah, standing high in tree-house style.

Bungalows on the Rocks

Among the more popular of our bungalows are the bungalows on the rocks, with spectacular views out to sea, where one is able to watch the sun rise from the bed with the window open, or the full moon rising on the night of the full moon. At night, here one can hear the ocean gently lapping on the rocks. The new pathways along the rocks have been re-landscaped, and this makes access to the bungalows much more easy and convenient. Some of the beds are built into the actual rocks that have been incorporated into the rooms, giving a truly unique and artistic feel to the bungalow.
