The rooms badly need a complete make-over. Old sanitary in bathrooms make them look unclean. Hard to find a plug for your computer. And, 1000 pesos for an internet connection.... If you stay at this Mandarin you'll never go to another one. At 100 US$ a few years ago it was OK. But at 200!
Overall, value for money even without breakfast. Spacious room and bath, could do better to improve on the bed. 20" TV needs to be upgraded and position is too high.
Very nice hotel in great location. The room was large and clean however was freshly painted or previous person staying there spilt nail polish remover which left a lasting smell. The prices were a bit over the top for many items especially $10 for a glass of juice. If ever staying in Manila again will definately stay there again. The staff were extremely friendly.
I was very pleased with the service and the room! I had read some unpleasant things about this hotel but I did not see evidence of those particular things. The only thing that I could say negatively about this hotel is its location. I had to walk for about 10 - 15 minutes in the heat to get to Glorietta or Greenbelt and even farther to the MTR. They need to have a shuttle to these popular locations. Other than that, the room was great and so was everyone at the hotel!
Hotel was as described by other readers. Excellent service but tired rooms. Don't get me wrong, the rooms were clean and comfortable, but the carpet was stained in places and threadbare in others which actually gave it a bit of charm... probably not the type of charm initially intended when the hotel was constructed... All in all we enjoyed our time there and for the price would gladly visit again.
I have stayed in the MO Manila twice now and on both occassions i have had to settle for a twin room (beds pushed together) rather than a double which i reserved. Considering the reputation MO's have around the world, the cleanliness of the rooms at the Manila hotel could definately be improved.
Excellent service but rooms and hotel decor looking very dated.
The price of the hotel was right and service was absolutely amazing. The common areas of the hotel were great however the rooms and hallways could use some renovations as they were a bit below what I have come to expect from Mandarin Hotels but still more than acceptable by regular standards.
the overall hotel could do with a bit of renovating or "cleaning" up but it is good value for money and a good location.
Wonderful hotel, centrally located in Makati.
The hot buffet breakfast that was included in the rate was a big dissapoinment. Empty plates and the service wasn't attentive. Otherwise it was nice!
I always enjoy my stays at [this hotel]. Ideally located on the corner of Paseo de Roxas and Makati Avenues and containing two of the best restaurants in Manila inside the hotel, Tivoli and Tin Hau, this hotel is perfect when staying in Manila. Although looking a little dated and untidy from the outside, from the moment you arrive on the ramp and the ramp concierge greets you the experience is excellent. The breakfasts in Paseo Uno are wonderful with a huge selection to choose from. The rooms are well appointed and the housekeeping staff so very obliging. Reception is always staffed by impecabbly groomed and well mannered staff. I commend this hotel to anyone wishing to stay in downtown Manila.
No place in the lobby to sit and wait for anybody
I have always enjoyed staying at this hotel and have again on this occasion. The Hotel has two very fine restaurants, Tin Hau for the best chinese food in Manila and the very elegant Tivoli. Although the hotel could to with a major internal and external refurbishment, when compared to other Mandarin Oriental hotels such as Hong Kong and Kuala Lumpur, it is no the less a very pleasant hotel to stay at with a raft of extremely courteous staff and wonderfu food. The location is excellent being on the edge of the Makati downtown area and a short commute to the Greenbelt area as well as the financial district. Highly commended hotel in Manila
Gym small but open 24 hrs (just wish staff would refrain from turning music so loud). Service very friendly/efficient upon check-in. Excellent offering of TV channels. Breakfast disappointing; I expected a nicer buffet given this was a Mandarin
