Room was very stuffy and dusty. Cleaners did not do anything about this despite request to remove dust. Facilities like gym and pool are very good. Breakfast is ridiculous expensive (700 pesos ++), so have not tried that. Overall overpriced hotel for room and services provided. Amenities relatively nearby, so location is not too bad.
The service was Exalent and they terted me as if I was king. The food was great at the Marco Polo and i will stay there again on my next trip.
Davao is a very poor city, delightful but a bit of a shock to those who are used to modern cities. The Marco Polo is a haven of safety & comfort. The staff on the club floor are outstanding - comparable with the fantastic Sheraton Towers Kowloon, Hong Kong. The hotel is in a bit of a 1980's time warp decoratively with the exception of the unexpected iPod dock which handles an iPhone under duress!!From a pricing perspective the hotel is extraordinarily expensive relative to the local cost of living. But overall good value.
The hotel is nice. The spa is very good. Location is in the heart of the city. Only complaint is the breakfast buffet. The food was not that great at the hotel for my taste.
This is my third time staying at the Marco Polo. The quality of the rooms is excellent, with superb bedding including lovely european quilts. Only two negative comments - 1. Internet access costs $USD8 per day, when most hotels in the Philippines now provide free wireless access. 2. Newspaper delivery is patchy at best. Over 7 days I got 2 different papers, with one day where no paper arrived at all. Additionally, they tend to turn up at about 9am. Not the best timing. But the service is beyond reproach, with excellent restaurants at very reasonable prices. Other facilities are also very good. Definitely recommended.
Nice hotel. The breakfast spread was simply wonderful.
the hotel was at the heart of the city, lots of shops for souvenirs nearby..as well as massage center..hotel was very nice, i love the staff, they were very accommodating and helpful..my colleagues were there to visit us and staff var very helpful to assist us to view their club at the top of the hotel..i love their health studio and swimming pool..the room was very nice..my kids and husband enjoyed the view from our room esp. at the 11th floor..the room was soundproof as well, the bathroom was complete with ameneties, the breakfast was very sumptous -one will be full with good food..i highly recommend this to those who wanted to visit davao city..its a safe and nice hotel
I would recommend this hotel to friends. My only comment is the drainage in the bathtub is very poor, water accumulates up to the ankles while taking a shower. Otherwise, I was very comfortable during my stay.
Amazing Stuff
though i had lived in davao for more than 20 years but it was my first time to stay at this hotel last july 2008 and i can say that we love this hotel especially the staff..they were very nice, approachable and friendly..aside from the fact that i knew some of them..spar of the front desk was very nice to us on our our last 2 nights stay there...the beautiful lady at the continental club who toured us (me and my co-teachers)..the swimming pool was nice with reggae music which we heard underwater,we loved to swim there, also the hi-tech training studio plus their aerobics classes, the palatable breakfast at the restaurant, we loved very much the wide array of food..the room was quite spacious..one thing that lack is the wifi at the room..we hope that it will be available free of charge at the room just like in other european hotels...hotel centrally located, close to almost everything.highly recommended hotel. we will stay again in this hotel.
City centre location with friendly service. Could check-in as early as 6am if you are arriving early!
Great hotel breakfast best ever, pool fantastic
Guests from the United Kingdom please note that this hotel does NOT exchange British Pounds for PH peso. I have tried to find out why this is, but unable to find out the reason ( Very strange )How ever there is a money change outlet across the road who are very pleased to change your pounds and you get a good rate also. The hotel is quite expensive when you add on all the tax and service charges. The hotels staff are very friendly and helpful.
Excellent advice from the concierge to go to Paradise Island rather than elsewhere for snorkelling: an easy taxi and P14 each way beach transfer; P90 entrance fee to resort and P300 snorkelling fee with a reasonable number of reef fish seen. Quiet room and good bathroom amenities together with an excellent breakfast and a cheap P100 transfer each way from and to the Davao Airport (by pre-booking) made for an enjoyable stay.
The Marco Polo Hotel is located in the heart of Davao city, which makes it quite accessible to all means of transportation. Overall, the quite good. The staff is affable and extrenely helpful. The room I stayed in had some minor problems albeit irritating. Overall, i would recommend this place and would book my travels should I find myself in Davao again.
Very pleasant and secure hotel
No complaints about the hotel in general.Security was strict but cant complain about that. I found the buffet meals uninteresting.Plenty of choice but not to my personal liking.
The $107 price range for this hotel is not worth the money. This Marco Polo is not up to standards. I would never stay there again for the amount of money I paid. Needs a remodel and front desk was very rude.
MY wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Service, meals and staff well were spot on! Thank you.
The staff very friendly and always keen to help with any problem.I would stay again without any hesitation.
