Cruz 14 28012 Madrid - Spain
The entire staff at this small retreat welcomes you. We will strive to offer you the very best service, and make your stay truly memorable. The building was renovated in 1998. Just a few yards from the Puerta del Sol, the hotel enjoys a privileged location. The Puerta del Sol, where a host of monuments and cultural sites can be found, has been the traditional center of Madrid since the 18th century. Here in the heart of the city, and on foot, you can visit the most beautiful and representative spots of "old and enchanting" Madrid. Starting from the Puerta del Sol, and turning into la Calle Arenal, you can walk the 16th and 18th century Hapsburg quarter : Teatro Real, Plaza de Oriente and Palacio Real, and then the Almudena Cathedral. As you return, along Calle Mayor, you can visit the Plaza Mayor and enjoy a typical Madrilenian environment and see the magnificient frescos on the Casa de la Panadería. Once again in the Puerta del Sol, and taking San Jerónimo, you can see the Congress of Deputies, the fronting, staircase, portico and pediment of which is reminiscent of the Italian style of the Quattrocento. The thyssen-Bornemisza, Prado and Reina Sofia museums form a triangle of art galleries.

Standard double or twin room for 2 people
Larger room for 3 people
Excellent location.Room very dark as looked onto an internal quadrangle. Always smelt of cooking but not unpleasant. We would stay there again.
Small but clean rooms - perfectly located right in the middle of the action!
Friendly. English speaking staff.
The Hostal was in an awesome location and was very reasonably priced.
In its category it is a pleasant accomodation, perfectly suitable for sightseeing a city. Location is ideal for walks in the old city, to the museums of Madrid from the Royal Palace to the Prado and Reina Sofia Gallery. Tiny rooms on the second floor. The window is well isolated to keep out the noises of the people and cars outside (on 15th May, San Izidor's day, the streets were crowded with people). Air-conditioned.
This is a very basic, clean, well situated place near the Puerta del Sol, with pleasant and helpful staff. There are two metro stations near and lots of reasonably priced restaurants. The area can be noisy at night, especially on the weekend. It serves no food but it has coffee and soda machines in the lobby. It is on the 2nd and 3rd floor, but it has a small elevator. Security appears to be very good. It has a safety box in the room, but it will cost you one euro everytime you lock it.
