On the beachfront of beautiful Palm Cove is Melaleuca Resort, a small intimate four star complex of 24 self contained one bedroom holiday apartments. All of our bright spacious apartments have a separate bedroom, lounge, dining room and complete kitchen including dishwasher. They are fully air-conditioned, have ceiling fans in each room and are equipped with a washing machine and dryer. They also come with private balconies, most with views across our award winning gardens to the ocean. Our walk in, salt water, lagoon style pool has three in-pool spas and is set in luxurious, award winning tropical gardens. Surrounded by exotic flowers and plants the stresses of day to day life will melt away at Melaleuca Resort. There's plenty of dining and shopping within an easy stroll along the beachfront, all located on the beachfront. Halfway between Cairns and Port Douglas, Palm Cove is the gateway to the Great Barrier Reef and the Daintree Rainforest. Getting there:From Cairns International Airport 25 minutes north on the Cook Highway, a taxi is around $A60.00, airport shuttles can be pre-booked through the hotel for $20.00 per person. By car turn right at Veivers Rd, follow the road to the beach and then left along Williams Esplanade to the resort.
Check-in Procedure:After 1900 hrs the key will be left in the room. Instructions on where the room is will be on the reception door and check in will be done the next morning.

We loved it here. Beautiful sea view, glorious gardens, and an extremely pretty swimming pool - all encapsulated in the view from the rooms. One of the best places I have stayed in, especially at such a reasonable price. Also a very friendly reception from the owner. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel.

The quietness of the hotel and its position was very conducive to a hassle free holiday. Being within walking distance of shops was a bonus. The staff were lovely and helpful. The only problem is that the beautiful palms around the pool make it a bit chilly in the cooler months (but the beach opposite made up for that) but beautiful for getting relief from the heat in summer I would imagine.

My mother and I (38yrs) stayed (Feb 2008) in a medium sized one bedroom apartment over looking the ocean, mere meters away from the beach; 35 minute drive south to Cairns. Melaleuca Resort is a great place to stay with a gorgeous tropical garden and a relaxing pool. The apartment was clean, comfortable, appealing and well equipped for our week's stay. Coles supermarket is only 3 kms drive away which was handy as the local restaurants are bit over priced. The owners/managers(?) Margaret and Steve made us feel very welcome. Would definitely stay there again!!! One point, it lacks an internet service (handy to find out info on local attractions) but i am sure that will be rectified in the near future. Palm Cove is fabulous but Go now before the 7 star Palm Cove Resort opens in 2009 when i think businesses in Palm Cove will increases their prices.
Accomodation is basic but adequate and very central (not that anything is particularly far away in Palm Cove). The female manager (I've forgotten her name) was extremely helpful - we were travelling with a young child so had a few more requests than normal. The pool is in the shade which would be good in the heat of summer. Use of the pool is a bit more limited during the time we went (September) but the beach was lovely so this was not an issue.

Nice, well appointed and spacious apartment, right on the Esplanade of beautifull Palm Cove, with fantastic garden en pool. Friendly, efficient and helpfull staff. Perfect start for exploring the surroundings. We'll be back!
Palm Cove is by far the best place to stay in the Cairns/Port Douglas area. The Melaleuca Resort is really well located (on the beachfront) and has a great pool and outdoor area. The service was really good. Our only gripes are that there were heaps of smokers and that there were lots of ants around - but neither are really something that the Resort can be blamed for!
Ideally located on Esplanade, it has one of the most attractive frontages with its garden and pool. The pool is very impressive, though solar heating would help in winter. Rooms are spacious and units very well equipped for self-catering. Staff are really friendly. An excellent place to unwind.
Nice location on the near the beach front. Newly refurbished so our apartment was as new. Very clean and a good size. Kitchen was great. Nice garden and pool. Friendly staff. I'd recommend this place and would stay again

Palm Cove has to be the best place in the country and this resort certainly makes the area much more enjoyable. Good facilities that are extremely pleasurable and clean.
Very friendly and helpful service. Excellent location right on the beach. Apartments are not luxurious, but well-equipped and comfortable. Staff knowledge of surrounding area and activities was outstanding. Garden setting was extremely pleasant. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend this resort to anyone.
