Mercure Severinshof Hotel Cologne

My young son and I stayed here for a weekend trip to the Cologne Xmas markets. I was really impressed with the hotel. Great location and the room was really nice. I am fastidious on cleanliness in a room and this room did not disappoint. Really nice decor, lovely bathroom. Would definitely stay there again. Very easy to get there from the airport and short walking distance to the markets.

Location is great a short walk from the railway station. Our room was at the front of the building, and very noisy with tram and train noise. When the windows were closed to shut out noise, the room was quite hot. Wonderful breakfast, lots of choice.

Great staff. Wonderful hotel. New superior rooms are great. Breakfast is so good.

The hotel is located beside a church that tolls its bells early in the morning. To ensure a good night's sleep, make sure you don't get a room facing the church. Apart from that, the location of the hotel is very good. The room I was given was very cold, the heating did not appear to be on, despite the fact that the outside temperature was just above freezing level.

Excellent hotel within walking distance of the Dom and main shopping districts.

the ratchet that holds the shower head was very loose, so had to hold the shower. Considering the star rating of this hotel it did not have any tea or coffee making facilities. Room service did not serve just drinks.

the location is good but there is a construction site arround the hotel,which make it very bad.

Hotel is fine but it is only deserves a 3 star rating in my opinion. Convenient to Photokina with the S-bahn. Would not recommend hotel as a single traveler as ambience is quite limited.

It's a nice hotel, the room is comfortable, breakfast is great and big choice. Outside of the hotel is a subway station, only 2 stations away from the shopping center.

This was our first time using the Hotel Club and were looking for a reasonably priced,good location and clean hotel. We were more than happy with our choice. Our flight arrived from Canada early, arriving at the hotel at 8a.m. knowing check in was 2pm. We did not ask for special treatment but just advised we had arrived. To our surprise they gave us a room by 8:45a.m. The room was to the high German standards of being very clean, sound proof windows as there was subway construction outside the hotel. The whole floor was smoke free which we appreciated. Breakfast included and service were excellent, and friendly staff. We were only 15 mins walk from the centre of the city. I would not hesitate recommending this hotel.

From outside it may looks a bit run down but the room inside is quite alright. Clean and plesant. Its just a bit out of the city centre.

All of the staff were exceptional. However particular thanks to the Restaurant and Bar staff for the attention and kindness. They were brilliant!!!!!!

Excellent hotel, very good service. District not very inspiring but this could be due to road works immediately outside the hotel. Breakfasts very good, one tiny niggle, I would much have preferred hot milk with my coffee in the morning instead of the small jug of cold cream provided.

Convenient location within walking distance of the town centre, but one side of the building is on a busy road. Overall very clean, but not the place to go if you are a non-smoker, as the entrance hall and main stairways, as well as the area you cross to reach the breakfast room, are filled with cold smoke from an open "bar" type area. The wellness area is huge, but did not work when I tried it: cold showers only and sauna was switched off, very disappointing. When we arrived at 3pm the hotel computer system was not functioning, so we could not get a room. No compensation was offered (not even a coffee) for either this or the non-working wellness area. Lastly we had problems with the conditioned air in the room.

The room price was fine, but the breakfast price was outrageous (16 euros each). Location was in an unattractive area, but you could walk to the Dom and Old City in about 12 minutes. To avoid 12 euro/day parking fee, use the free parking off the property across the street. No problem. Free almost unlimited computer access in the lobby.

Very good hotel. Friendly and helpful staff, great breakfast buffet, nice big rooms with lots of storage space. Free internet facility. Would recommend this hotel and will return there on my next trip to Cologne.
