"Maybe it is not fair to compare a very old hotel with a modern one, but my wife and I and our daughter agreed that this was a unique experience, and well worth the price we paid. The rooms are very comfortable, and the atmosphere fantastic. So for a short stay in Stratford upon Avon we highly recommend it. " - Tore Sund
"Hotel is in a fantastic location on Chapel Street right in the centre but the hotel itself is the star. A fantastic old building with not a straight edge in sight (at the old front section of the hotel).
An important note though, it is the front section of the hotel that is very old, the newer rear section does not have the same charm. It is very expensive to stay here and my reason for justifying the cost was to stay in ye olde room.
We had an evening meal at the hotel resteraunt on Saturday night and the food and service were superb, as were the breakfasts" - Ronald McCarthy
"We were very impressed with everything. The only thing that was lacking was the food it was very bland and very small portions." - Anonymous
"Public rooms dowstairs were excellent with large, comfortable lounges and open fires. Location excellent being in the centre of the town and close to the theatre.
The 2nd floor bedroom allocated was very small and rather dark though and there were problems with water pressure. There was a lack of drawer space and it felt cramped. We were given a slightly bigger room for the last night of our stay, on the first floor as the shower had flooded the bathroom. This was lighter and there was more space for belongings. Bathroom facilities were also better. The reception staff organised our move well whilst we were at breakfast.
Breakfast was good but on the first morning the hot meal took a long time to arrive. I was served the wrong 'light meal' before the theatre and it was too late to change it.
Reception was efficient at check in and out.
We had asked for a smoking room but on arrival were told that all rooms are now non smoking. This should be made clear before booking.
