We stayed in Stratford for our wedding. the hotel was lovely. Very conveniently located. Staff friendly and attentive. Standard of facilities excellent. Arrive earlier rather than later to aviod not being able to park in hotel car park, as spaces are limited. Will definetly go back again and would recommend to others.
Maybe it is not fair to compare a very old hotel with a modern one, but my wife and I and our daughter agreed that this was a unique experience, and well worth the price we paid. The rooms are very comfortable, and the atmosphere fantastic. So for a short stay in Stratford upon Avon we highly recommend it.
Hotel is in a fantastic location on Chapel Street right in the centre but the hotel itself is the star. A fantastic old building with not a straight edge in sight (at the old front section of the hotel). An important note though, it is the front section of the hotel that is very old, the newer rear section does not have the same charm. It is very expensive to stay here and my reason for justifying the cost was to stay in ye olde room. We had an evening meal at the hotel resteraunt on Saturday night and the food and service were superb, as were the breakfasts
We were very impressed with everything. The only thing that was lacking was the food it was very bland and very small portions.
Public rooms dowstairs were excellent with large, comfortable lounges and open fires. Location excellent being in the centre of the town and close to the theatre. The 2nd floor bedroom allocated was very small and rather dark though and there were problems with water pressure. There was a lack of drawer space and it felt cramped. We were given a slightly bigger room for the last night of our stay, on the first floor as the shower had flooded the bathroom. This was lighter and there was more space for belongings. Bathroom facilities were also better. The reception staff organised our move well whilst we were at breakfast. Breakfast was good but on the first morning the hot meal took a long time to arrive. I was served the wrong 'light meal' before the theatre and it was too late to change it. Reception was efficient at check in and out. We had asked for a smoking room but on arrival were told that all rooms are now non smoking. This should be made clear before booking.
It was disappointing that the spa facilities were a 10 minute walk from the hotel. This wasn't clear on the website.
The breakfast was excellent, a wonderful choice and all delicious. It was a good central location and even though we had to pay for parking at the rear of the hotel it was very convenient and meant we could have a stress free weekend. The staff were friendly and helpful. We had a wonderful stay.
Pleasant overnight stay with friendly staff. Extremely helpful and efficient in locating item left behind. The location of the Hotel is superbly central with adequate carparking.
Charming centrally located Tudor building. Excellent service, good hotel restaurant, bar prices excessive. Be helpful to warn guests that they need to book car parking and there will be a charge.
The hotel is a 16 century building with all the old world charm you could wish for. It is spotless and the food is very good it sits right in the centre of Stratford and has car parking on site. The rooms are large and have everything you could wish for all in all it is one of the best hotels I have ever been in.
An excellent base for exploring Stratford. The hotel itself is full of character and the staff are very attentive. On winter evenings you can sit by a wood fire and soak up the ambience. A really nice hotel.
Overall, good and comfortable, with willing service; easy walk to the theatre.
The hotel is a beautiful one, full of charecter and warmth.
Full of charm and character, with lovely fireplaces and sitting areas, calming background music, very relaxing. Reception very helpful, lovely, quiet room beautifully furnished. We would definitely come back here again and would recommend it to anyone.
The refurbished rooms represented good value and the free bottle of wine left in the room, as a result of booking on the internet, was very welcome. A centrally located hotel with good facilities.
A lovely old hotel, with a very good location, 5mins walk to Shakespeares birth place, 2 mins to the theatres and next door to Nash's place.
The atmosphere and style are excellent, and entirely in keeping with Shakespeare's Stratford.
